Cheap and simple brake
1 Attachment(s)
I've installed this on my Reaction 44 jet as AMA requires brakes. Thought I'd share the idea.... I've got the nose wheel scrubber brake installed. Seems to work very well! I used a Hitec HS-81 (36oz) to activate it. I added a small extension spring to keep the servo from being stalled at full braking action. It is .032 diameter wire I wrapped around a 5/32" mandrel in my vise. I would highly recommend this spring to anyone using a similar setup. The aluminum "flapper" was fabricated from some 1/2" U channel I had. No friction material is used. The axle is 1/16 music wire. If she pulls left during braking, I'll just add some right steering mix. Thats it for now.... Dave Rigotti |

ORIGINAL: rcguy! I've installed this on my Reaction 44 jet as AMA requires brakes. Thought I'd share the idea.... I've got the nose wheel scrubber brake installed. Seems to work very well! It reminds me of the brakes on early go carts of the 50s. Clever spring. They sell springs of varoius kinds at hardware stores and home improvement centers that carry to drawers of vearious widgets, nuts, bolts and washers. I take apart kids toys, VCRs, anything and save the screws and springs and various parts that may be useful later. You wouldn't believe the things I repair or fabricate from this "junk". By the way, some speaker magnets make great refrigerator magnets. Bill |
