Silicon Jacket Servo Wire

Has anyone looked for single or three-conductor silicon jacket (24ga I think? for servo) wire. I would like to custom wire my servo installation and looking for a high quality substitute instead of that stiff plastic coated train layout wire.

Bet you mean silicone jacket, right? Silicon is a hard, brittle material. ;)

Try www.radicalrc.com The last I checked he sold silicone servo and battery wire by the foot.

Hi

Suggest that you might consider Teflon jacketed #24AWG wire. Buy small spools of the wire and then twist the three colors you want together using an electric drill.

The Teflon wire insulation holds up better when soldering then PVC type for sure. If you are going to crimp the pins then likely does not make much of a difference. I find the Teflon wire a little harder to strip but it stands up better.

Just a suggestion

Cheers

I doubt he really wants silicone insulation. That is typically used on high voltage wire, but is not very tough to abrasion.

I have been using Teflon covered 20, 22, 24 and 26 gauge stranded wire (depending on model size) for servo extensions for years.

We use it by the mile here at work and I get a pretty good discount through the company account.

Try Digikey online.

www.digikey.com

They sell 100' rolls of it in many colors and sizes.

But it's single strand wire. You have to get 3 colors and use an electric drill to twist it together.

I'm building a radio box for a boat. Everything needs to be shortened on it or its going to be a mess inside. Theres going to be three servos, five cell pack, temp recorder, and fail safe unit, reciever and toggle switch. Most everything will be taken out of its plastic case and rewired shorter and more organized breadboard style. Thats primarily the reason I think silicone jacket wire would be a good selection this time around.
