Paint Problem?
I am currently painting a cbm f-16 with model masters enamel paint. it is the navy aggresor paint scheme. I am having trouble with the paint not sticking. I fiberglassed it and then filled the weave with spackling then put on a 3 coats of water based acrylic primer which I sanded smooth between coats. I had the primer as smooth as a babys bottom when I started applying the color. I out one color ona and it went on fine. the second color after it started to dry looked a little rough. so after it was dry i touched it and the paint was almost like dust? im not sure if i thinned it too much or if my air brush is spraying funny. maybe i laid it on too thick? I made sure the surface was free of dust before i started so i know its not that? Anybody have any ideas?

Paint Problem?
It sounds like the paint went on too dry. Could be from too much air pressure or was thinned too much allowing the atomized paint to dry before reaching the surface.

Paint Problem
That's exactly what it sounds like to me,,i.e., shot too dry.
Try reducing the air pressure to about half of what you were using. You don't say, but, if you did not reduce the color before spraying, chances are you required a much higher pressure to get the paint out of the gun. My guess is you will probably need to reduce by 25-50% before spraying. Good Luck, Steve Puckett Model Aviation |
