Mini reciprocating saw from toothbrush

Didn't know if anyone has tried this so I thought I'd stick it on here. It's simply an electric toothbrush fitted with an Xacto saw blade. Seems to work ok but definitely not for hard wood.
I used a Crest Spinbrush Pro (less than $8) and comes with batteries. Take the replacable brush head off.

Cut about 1/4" off the white plastic nipple that the brush head attaches to.
I used a metal clevis cut in half, 5/32" brass tubing, and a threaded coupler. Solder the threaded coupler inside one end of the brass tube and the toothbrush to the other end. The saw blade gets soldered to the half clevis and screwed to the coupler. You can make several attachments this way and switch them out.

Here's the completed gizmo. And all under about $10.

This is a great idea ! It could probably be adapted to make hinge slots as well. Worth a try......

And I was just about to post a thread about how to make an electric toothbrush out of a Great Planes Slot Machine! LOL

Great idea hh!

Its a brilliant idea
I cant fathom why Dremel and others haven't made a micro reciprocating saw yet.
Dremel had an attachment but its far too aggressive in that it vibrates too much. Their trio is also too large and heavy??
The closet useable recip. saw for modelling is the Worx jigsaw with a rotating end that transforms to a recriprocating saw

I have a Ryobi Detail Carver that is similar to that. Just picked it up at a garage sale in the summer for cheap. I thought it was a rotary tool, and it just buzzed. Better than I thought :-)

I did a similar thing with an electric. I also build scale three masted war ships and needed a micro sander. I took an old electric brush like the one above i cut the bristles off sanded the remaining head litely. I glued a dowl stub about three eights long same size as the head diameter onto the head then used sticky sandpaper same size as dowl placed it on the end of the dowl... Now i have a micro sander
