Vinyl trim sheets
I once purchased some vinyl trim sheets and used it to cut and paste designs on an airplane. I didn't use an overcoat of any kind and it never came loose.
I would now like to get some more of it but I don't remember what it is called. It was about 8" wide and 24" long with a stickey back. I got it at the LHS. I don't seem to find it now. Does anyone remember what this was called and where you can get it? Or any stickey back vinyl for that matter. |

You know I picked up some of the same exact stuff (I believe), and think it was Monokote brand self stick covering. I'm not 100% sure but it's not vinyl, has the same feel as monokote but slightly heavier (due to the self stick adhesive), and works great for small repairs and graphics. Plus I saw it in about 20 colors.

You can get basically the same stuff at your local sign shop. They usually have it in a multitude of colors. I've found that if you tell them what you are using it for they will be very helpful.

harborsales.com sells small rolls of vinyl for about $20.00.

Has anyone tried shelf paper from the grocery store?? I used it for signage in my store window and it was there for five years, full sun and comerical window washing ever other week. It held up great for that. I don't know how it might work for decals on a Nitro plane but now that it came to mind, I'm going to give it a try.

Get freindly with the local sign shop. The friendlier you get, the more 'off cuts & scraps' you can get. Some are even roll ends, matching what you'd normally buy at the LHS!! And many many colours.
I have a few boxes full!!!! The larger sign shops also have the 'expencive' stuff; thin material, and the reflective stuff they use on Police & emergency vehicles (I have blue & yellow!!) You can also buy teh vynil on rolls at better art & graphic shops. |

I get mine, when I need it, at a place called S and W Plastics, here in So.Calif. Every color you can imagine. They sell it for vinyl signs and banners for all types of business and birthdays etc. Look under vinyl in the phone book or ask one of those party stores for a source. I pay about 3.00 or 4.00 bucks for a couple of square feet. Sometime they will have a small roll (2 or 3 inches by 20 plus feet) for a couple of bucks. Hope this helps.
