Sirius Charger glitch?

My Sirius Pro has been with me for 6 years and worked flawlessly. But starting yesterday, the red LED on the receiver charging channel will light up (and the green one went off) after about 2 minutes of charging. I tried different batteries and it did the same thing. The trasmitter charging channel works fine.

Just wonder if anybody experienced the same and any advice is appreciated.

RE: Sirius Charger glitch?

The only time I ever got a red light on my Sirius charger was when
the input voltage to the charger was too low. So check to be sure
your power source is up to the task.

If that checks out then there is a possibility that you have a connector
or charge cord problem. If the charger cant "see" the battery you
will get a red light.

Also a defective battery that reads very low voltage will do that.
Verify your pack voltage with a meter.

If all the above checks out then you may have to send it in for service.
But I bet the problem is not the charger. Its such a reliable and well
built piece of equipment. But you never know.

Hey guys,

What is it I have to do to get the charger to see the transmitter battery? I know there is something about a diode, but I am in the dark. I would really like to be able to condition the Xmitter batteries.

Thanks

Oh and the only time I have ever seen the red light is when the Input battery is in need of charging.

Depends on your transmitter. Some have diodes some do not.
See if your transmitter is listed on Peak Electronics page:

RE: Sirius Charger glitch?

XTOL,

Tried the receiver channel today and surprisingly the red LED kept off and the green one transitioned from steady on to flash. Measured the voltage on three charged batteries and all are good. I figured the glitch may be related to the temperature, as it reached about 33 degree in the morning (in gargage). The charger has difficulty to figure out the true voltage of the battery. Today it is warmer.

BishWheeler,

The [link=http://www.siriuselectronics.com/index.php?main_page=diode_sheet]diode page[/link] contains info on how do disable the diode for a particular txn radio. It is pretty easy to do.
