Threaded rod 4-40 Double

Hi All,

Somebody could find out where I can buy DOUBLE THREADED ROD 4-40, because I am trying to do thread on the other side, in a small rod of DU-BRO 4-40 with dies but the link doesn't screw. And this way I find easier to buy the ready piece.

Thankful for the attention

You could always bind and solder 2 rods together end to end to get the same effect easily.

There is a reason it is hard to find. If both ends are threaded it can easily come apart due to vibration. One end threaded and the other silver soldered, "Z" bent or with a 90ยบ E/Z Link is better.

Here are shorth lengths for attaching to the end of Sullivan hollow rods.

I use all-thread 4-40 rod in varying lengths cut to size, and stiffen it with carbon fiber tube bonded to the rod with j-b weld. I leave enough threads exposed at each end for a metal clevis and binding nut.

Buy some 1/8 inch noncoated welding rod and two dies, a 5-40 and 4-40. Cut to length then threade both ends with the 5-40 die then chase them with a 4-40 die.

You are right to be cautious if it is a big plane. The Z bend at one end seems a better way.

However another way to join 2 rods is to insert them into a piece of thick wall brass tubing and solder them. A slot or a notch can be used to allow solder to penetrate.

Joca, something makes me think you're looking for left-handed and right-handed threads on the ends--something along the line of the Hangar 9 Pro-Links. If that's the case, cutting the threads yourself is probably the best solution. Rodney's suggestions would apply. If there's not a toolroom supplies superstore in Brazil, you can probably get the dies at McMaster-Carr.

Just Google "Rod Chuck" for some info on making your own threaded rods.

Website was not real clear to me just what was included in the kits. but gave me enough to visit McMaster Carr's die section and welding rod stock.

McMaster also stocks nylon self tapping nuts in small sizes...I use them in addition to the steel nuts to help with vibration.
