The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
I don't know if you'd call this a brainstorm or a moment of profound stupidity, but I survived it, there's not broken glass and paint all over the shop and all that thick pigment goo at the bottom of the bottle became nice smooth paint.
[link=http://www.airfieldmodels.com/information_source/how_to_articles_for_model_builders/finishing_techniques/painting_techniques/scroll_saw_paint_shaker/index.htm]The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker[/link] Remember, you do this at your own risk. It's not good for your scroll saw and if the paint jar comes loose it won't be good for your shop or anyone near by. If none of those really bad things happen, you've just discovered the best paint shaker ever for small bottles of paint. |
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Try explaining that to your wife when you come up from your shop looking like a Smurf. "but Honey....Cafeenman said it would work"

RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Try orange paint and then sing an oompa loompa song. :)
|
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Oompa loompa oompa la dee
Shook the paint now it's all over me What do you get when the lid is not tight? You and the Mrs get in a big fight Oompa loompa oompa la dee |
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
That's brilliant! I wonder how it would work with the bottle zip tied to the blade? :D
|
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
I forgot to mention that you should probably put a heavy duty blade in the saw - one that isn't likely to break like a fine blade might. I don't know what will happen if the blade breaks while shaking paint but I don't want to find out. :)

RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
The link is not working for me but for years I thought of modifying a cheap jig saw to shake up the little Testors paint bottles. Another idea that might work is to get ahold of one of those dentist dohickies that they (used to) use to mix up filling stuff.

Chevelle - My site is down at the moment. It happens about once a month for unknown reasons but is usually up in less than a day. Try again later. Sorry about that. :(

RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Working again. :)

RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
You're an animal Paul! :D
(Now how can I rig that up to do Quarts? ) |
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Go to the nearest house of ill repute and mount the cans to various headboards? Pick them up in the morning (the cans). :) I wonder if I should do a how-to about that on my site. :D

Don't try this at home kids - We're professionals
:D |
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
I wish all scroll saws had a square bed. I have no idea what the manufacturers can possibly be thinking to make round tables.
Is that a gallon or quart can? Have you actually turned the saw like that? |
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
oh! You could probably take your tires off the rims of your car and fit several quart cans inside each one. Do it the night before, drive to work and back and when you get home, you can pour the paint out of your tire right into your spray gun. :)

RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
This is too frightening.
I wonder how many people, right now, are duct taping cans of paint to their scroll saw. Ed S |

RED GREEN ..would be so proud to see his legacy live on .......bert

RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
I love the Oompa Loompa song!
That was great! |
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Disclaimer:
That was meant to be a joke. No, I did NOT turn it on. If I were actually going to do it, I would have used a lot more duct tape :D |
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
I don't think you even need the duct tape. Just a small piece of Velcro (tm) on the bottom of the can. :D
|
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Super glue oughta do the job, I seem to remember some lunatic hanging from his hard hat in an old commercial......
|
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
You could also attach it to the front/side/bottom of a sander (palm sander 1/4 sheet or a B&D type 1/3 sheet sander)
http://www.blackanddecker.com//Produ...FS350%25_2.jpg and it would probably be safer (less vibration to ruin the tool yet still do the shakin'). |
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Black and Decker tools break just sitting there, but I get the point. :)
|
RE: The Amazing Scroll Saw Paint Shaker
Alternative technology.
Tape it to a Harley hardtail luggage rack & ride down a cobblestone street.:D |

In the old days when we had a gasoline powered
washing machine ( really old days ) my older brother tied a gallon of cream to the agitator to churn butter. He was caught and the story does not hace a happy ending. Ralph |
