mirror-like finish?
 

How do I get a mirror like finish on my fiberglass fuses? I sand, wet-sand and paint, I've tried buffing with rubbing compound, but it doesn't seem to work.

Done with the rubng compound?... OK... dewax, and spray with 2 to 5 coats of clear gloss, then rub it out again. It'll be just like the new car finishes. (if the base coats are right... if not, every defect will suddenly be OBVIOUS.)

Basecoat/clearcoat finish
 

The secret is in the primer filler and how you've prepared your surface before you apply the paint. If you have a good smooth surface over which you apply your paint, it will lay down nice and smooth. I have been using Omni basecoat/clearcoat. It is an automotive paint purchased at any PPG Automotive Paint store. After you have applied your base coat, you apply your clear gloss coat until the surface has that wet look. Allow to dry and if applied properly, you don't have to sand or buff anything. I'll try to attach a picture of my latest aircraft, which was done in silver and red, white, and blue trim. Good luck.

Naw, it's fresh off the assembly line. Hasn't been in the field yet. They are a lot easier to clean up when they are shinny and look like new. :D
