I know this isn't an original idea. In fact, I think at least one manufacturer was selling a kit of this sort a while back. This is my first try at this sort of thing and it seems really useful to me. I'm wondering if there's anything I could have done to make it better. I built this one for a friend and plan to make one for myself soon.

Yanno, this would be a great training aid or demo item for mall shows and schools where we do outreach and interpretive demonstrations to both adults and children.

They could see what happens when you move the sticks and do it without having to build a full scale model for just this purpose.

If you don't mind, I'll steal it and use it!

MajSteve - That's kind of what I was getting at with the opening paragraph and then I sort of left that thought unfinished. You could set it up on a gimble to move with the controls so people could see how each flight surface affects the attitude of the aircraft.

A former club I belonged to had one of these that we used for Mall Shows, Classroom demos etc. It was basically the same, but it was on a longer stand and had extra servos in the stand that made the whole thing pitch, roll and yaw so that when the control surface moved, the plane moved correspondingly.

I like that, but I'd be too tempted to try and fly it!

LOL@Mike. :) I thought of that several times, but it's a little tail-heavy. I could build a firewall for my Norvell though. :)
