Removing Decals
 

Guys, is there a way to remove fairly thick decals from monokote without tearing them? These are large decals
that I applied last night that I need to reposition. I planned on using heat from a hair dryer or heat gun, but if anyone
has a better idea, I'd appreciate it.

The heat gun is the best thing I have found. If you do it slowly and work the decal back on it's self you will get most of the adhesive with it. The ones I have done have been on the plane for a while. A lot of the sticky stayed on the covering. I used Trim Solvent to get the sticky off. I just dabbed some on and rubbed it around with my finger tips. It turned the adhesive into a jelly. Then I just wiped it off. It did stink up the place but did not take much time.

You say you want to reposition them. Are you hoping to reuse them after removal? It's not very likely that they'll be usable after all that.

But if you get them off and get replacements, try putting them on with a little soapy water. They'll slide around nicely and you can get them right where you want them. Then squeege the water out and let set overnight.

Try Greased Lightening found at Lowes. Let it stand wet for a few minutes, then start lifting edges and allow penetration to glue. Keep peeling and wetting.
