RE: canopy setup
rx,
I was hoping some one would give you a better way of attaching the canopy than I am about to do..... What I did.... was to use small strips of plastic bent and cut the shape of the canopy railing, approx same size as the fullscale and used 00-90 or 00-08 screws form tabco optical. I used this same method on my b-24,144", with great results. It takes a little time but looks FS and you do not have to worry about glue smeers or breaking off. the screws I use also has nuts on the opposit side for the real look. Once you get the hang of putting the screws in and the nuts on It will be easy. Believe me Tabco optical has the size you need. Gary |
RE: canopy setup
Do you have pics of this? I think I know what you are saying but I am not 100% sure.

I use trim tape. I buy the trim decals that match the covering. They are about 4"x 36". I cut out 1/8 to 1/4 strips and place it around the edge of the canopy where it overlaps onto the fuse. Its fairly quick and easy. It seems to hold up well.
Im not sure how well it shows in the picture but here's an example on my Cap. I purchased some blue trim to match the wheel pants. So far its holding well and I can remove the canopy if I need to. |

Wow! I did not realize the pic was going to be that big! At least you can see the tape real good when you click on the pic :D

I took some pics last night but they came out fuzzy. I am having my wife take some in a few hours. But it is hard to take a picture of 00-80 screws on the turret with a flash. When I get home I'll try to take come of the FUS. But remember this is a turret and not a canopy, the screws will work the same it you use a solid foundation for attachment. Think of these screws as being miniture bolts with nuts on the back. Most of my screws for the b-24 are small enough to fit under your finger nail. None of my plastic parts that fit on plastic are glued because this is a scale project. If you wear eye glasses, look at the screws on the side of your glasses. Most of my screws are that size and half that size depending on the scale of the object. I will get back to you when I get the pics. Gary |

I finally read instructions like I should have two days ago. These pics are not very clear, but I will try to get better ones this weekend of the TURRET and FUS. I must need a better camera to take close pics. If you have not mounted your canopy yet give this method a try on some shipping plastic about .015 thick you will be supprised at the differance in looks. Gary |
