How Do I Get Off Old Covering
If the covering is monokote you can take it off by heating and pulling , Ultrakote is done in the same manner ,
use a heat gun ,heat it until it lets go. Highlander |

If it's Ultracote, just heat and remove.
If it's MonoKote, set the plane on fire and buy a new one. |

REMOVAL TOOLS
Pick-ax works good too!!!
seriously... old covering may not come off with the adhesive. Heat and peel slowly is the only sure method. If the adhesive(color) stays on the part then sanding it is about the only method I have used that works. Solvents will just make a mess and then the trash bin is the next step. WG |

Recover
What you want to do is find a well ventilated area and use a little acetone to clean up the remnants of the covering. I mean a WELL VENTILATED area! Trust me. My IQ level dropped 25 points because the ventilation wasn't quite good....what was I talking about?
Go to the hardware store and get a can of acetone, dump a little on a rag and work the covering off. Looks much better than covering over covering. |
ACETONE
Acetone is a bit messy in that it will smear the color. Acetone will destroy c/a glued joints. Acetone is the main ingrediant in c/a debonder. It may weaken other glue joints so be carefull where you use it. Cover over the stuborn spots. Use the same color or a darker color to prevent color bleed through.
