Sullivan dynatron starter
 

I used to use a 12V car jump start to power my starter, they last a couple of years before they'd loose their umpith...
Not anymore.....Finer edge manufacturing is making an adapter that screws onto the back of the Sullivan dynatron and a couple of other starters for 40 bucks...this allows you to hook up a Makita 1830 18V battery....
WOW....I started my 75AX, a 100 4 stroke , an OS61 FX, a 26 CC gasser...came home got my big Edge off the shelf and spun an OS160FX to almost idle RPM...
As with anything there is a downside..the batteries 2 of them and a charger are 200 bucks....I didn't pay 200 bucks for mine..instead I went to tool rental places and asked if they had any damaged Makita tools with good batteries....walked out of one place with good batteries and the charger for free..nice bunch of folks there...
oh if you have a hydrolocked engine you're gonna do some damage...that's the only downside I see...
I ordered my adapter Monday afternoon and got it Thursday....took about 30 mins to an hour to hook up..
Just so you know..I don't work for any hobby shop or Finer Edge, and I don't distribute for anyone either..
Just letting fellow RC'ers know there is a good product out there

[&:][&:][&:] Do You have Website or Address or store sells Finer Edge Manufacturers Battery Adapter. I have 18Volt Ryobi Drill I carry in My RC Trailer. search finer edge manufacturing....I bet it only fits an 1830....

the sullivan starter is rated to 24V at 100 amps.....I have no idea what the peak output in amps is of an 1830 battery....
42etus your set up looks ok...but aren't you running 18V on a starter rated at 12V? That's why there is a warning on starters not for continuoius use lol

I've got one starter that I've been using with 3-6cell packs for over 6 years now. No problems at all. It could die tomorrow and I would have got my money's worth out of it.

It is easy enough to get any repair parts for your Dynatron from Sullivan. I bought an old one at a swap meet for $15 and put a new switch and rubber boot assembly on it.

Here are two gel cells hooked up to a Dynatron with the Miller reducer adapter It is from Hodges Hobbies in Andersonville GA
