Split Flaps

I am building a 1/9 scale WW II glider with a 110" wingspan from stratch and need a little help. Any suggestions how to design a split flap would be appreciated. I am espesically interested in everyones opinion about the trailing edge. I have been told to stop the flap short of the trailing edge and sheet the bottom of the wing. All suggestions and or pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks All
Fred

Yes, stop them short of the TE. Here are some pics of Split Flaps on my Cessna 310

Is doing it like this purely for looks or is it better aerodynamically?

On the PT-19, the flaps slow it too much!
Makes it a handful to fly safely!

just add more throttle. that's what makes flaps so much fun. you can do a landing with more throttle than you are used too. makes for some interesting brain processes as it struggles to accept the higher rpms at landing speeds. at least my brain. plus a powered landing is more scale instead of just killing the throttle and gliding in.
