SIG WONDER STARTING STAND/HOLDER
1 Attachment(s)
I recently built a Sig Wonder and have flown it several times and believe it will be a keeper. However, I was always needing three hands to hold, start, fiddle with transmitter, lift it from the table, etc. I usually asked someone else to help me start the plane for safety reasons. But wishing to start it on my own safely, I built the below pictured holder. I can clamp it to one of the tables that are at each of our setup positions under the covered shed at my flying field.

Real nice field you have up there. It is just a little too far for me to go to. The Odessa field is less than ten miles for me. Close enough to run over an fly on a spur of the moment thing.

Have you done anything to fuelproof the wood? Not necessary but might make it last longer.
Is the stand tall enough to have prop clearance with it sitting on the ground? That would make it usable almost anywhere, especially if you drill a hole in the base to be able to stake it down with a long screwdriver. |

I had thought about painting it. At my field, each flying station has a dedicated 3'X8' substantial table located under our overhead shed/cover. So for me, there would be no advantage to make it work at ground level.
