So i guess varying the width will provide different pressures? I'm wondering how to make protectors for the ends. ahaa.. you could use the same pvc and put rounded bottoms held on with the pvc glue... You would need to reduce the clamp space the width of the protectors...

Here is a pic but this may be overkill of a very good idea??

Yes; the size will make the pressure different, as in smaller or more thin. What we need is someone to come up with a tool that would let you expand them with one hand.

I have been using the wooden spring loaded clothing line clips for years as clamps for building R/C models. The clips can even be taken apart and reassembled "backward" to better serve our requirements.

Shared your tip with Fox Valley Aero club and got a good idea back: use slit fuel tubing on the cuts to avoid marking the surface.

Thank Walt! We still need a wood plier to spread them.

I experimented and could spread them with the backs of my index and thumb fingers "inside" the "C".. leaving my other hand to postion pieces, etc

KitBuilder; some of us getting weak and a pliers would come in handy.

I haven't tried this yet because it just occurred to me while checking this thread, but why couldn't you make a tool using a clothes pin? Run a screw or bolt through both sides of the jaws (inside to outside). Then squeeze. If you left a point on them they would act as holders as well. You might need a couple or three different sizes.

I'll make one up this evening and see if it works.
Walt
