Removing decals
Got a (Bob or Don) Holman corsair at the weatherford swap meet last weekend. At home I noticed that the star and bar on the TOP side of the wing is on upside down, (naturally I missed that, no big deal). Its a monokoted wing. I was planning on removing it by picking at a corner to get a little start then using acetone on a q-tip to work it off. Is there an easier way?

Use your heat gun to heat the decal, then carefully raise an edge of the decal. I use tweezers to raise the decal, keep applying heat ase you continue to pull on the decal, I have removed several decals using this method, just be careful with the heat gun.

Lighter fluid works well to remove the glue residue.

The best non-flammable product to use to get rid of the glue residue is named Goo-Gone. I have purchased this stuff at hardware stores, most recently at a Sears hardware, and I have also seen it at one of the area hobby shops. Best stuff in the world for removing the junk left over after peeling price stickers off of propellers. I once bought a ducted fan jet kit at a swap meet where the owner had, some ten years prior, used everyday masking tape to mark the cut lines for gear doors and hatches on the fiberglass fuselage. Well that tape had long since petrified on the fiberglass yet the Goo Gone took it right off. Great stuff.

Removing Glues
Another product that works extremely well for removing glues is Top Flite's Trim Solvent.

Got both of those. Would I just start at the edges and wick it in as I work it up?
