Contact cement from HD, Lowe's, etc. Check it for compatibility first.

Gorilla glue or the Elmer's equivalent. (Forgot the name but it's the poly formula.) Both are foam friendly and work very well.

We had a thread on this over in the Classic Pattern Forum. Don at Eureka Aircraft is now the dealer for Southern Sorghum instead of Dave Brown as far as I heard last. Give him a call, He’s a great guy to talk and deal with. http://www.eurekaaircraft.com |

I used pro bond. Similar or the same as gorilla glue. You dont put it on that thick. Works great, BUT, you have wipe off what oozes out to reduce your sanding. You just have to baby sit it for about 30 minutes.

RE: Southern's Sorghum
i have done several wings with probond or gorilla glue. use a 3 or 4" foam roller and roll the glue on and spread it out until the foam is only wet. just a sheen or gloss, nothing more. mist your skins with water, assemble in the cores and either vacuum bag the assembly or clamp heavily between 3/4" plywood pieces. the foam will expand of course but into the foam. you will not find a stronger bond.

RE: Southern's Sorghum
just a question almost pertaining to this subject , after you apply your adhesive to the foam and sheeting how do you keep it from peeling off
the airfoil while drying ? Thanks NJ |
RE: Southern's Sorghum
I place the wing back in the cradle formed when hot wire cutting wing from the solid piece of foam. I place the cradles on both the top and bottom and add a lot of weight to the top. Then let it set over night.

you can also place the wings and shucks between 3/4" MDF pieces and clamp heavily.
