Monokote vs Paint for engine area

Is it better to monokote or paint the the area of the plane where the motor is? It seems to be much eassier to paint because of the smallness of this area.

I use a marking pen to color the wood , let dry & then use epoxy . You can match almost any color now days or contrast one . MAX H.
