Default Maisto Baja Beast spare battery

Hi

I want to buy my 5yo son the maisto baja beast offroad toy grade car for xmas. It's the right price but the only thing putting me off is the run time of 12 mins for the battery. I cannot find a spare maistotech 7.2v nimh 1000vmah for sale online anywhere. Not the specific one anyway.
So questions - is this runtime the norm for a toy grade car? Does anyone know where I can get a spare battery?(Even the link recommended by Maisto on their website has no stock of spare batteries). Or is there any other battery I can use in this car instead of the original maisto tech battery, without making too many complicated electrical amendments?? I'm in the UK but can purchase from abroad online.

Alternatively, if anyone wants to recommend a similar toygrade offroader with a better battery life I'm all ears!

Thanks in advance

Mark

Another question if anyone can help.
If I bought the RC Maisto Rock Crawler instead, and got the version that uses 4 AA batteries, could I use rechargeable Nimh AAbatteries? Would these batteries be sufficient to provide enough power and last long enough for a decent sesh?

Thanks.

You can run rechargables in it but with only 4 batteries
youll be a little under voltage. I dont think it will be a problem though.
alkalines are 1.5 where rechargables are 1.2v
Also, nice truck and Welcome to RCU !

Thanks very much for your reply. In the end I bought him the Baja Beast. Even if the run time is only 15 mins, at least we can recharge it regularly! I think he'll love it.

Regards
