Default Adding a motor to a non-RC toy

Dear RC Universe forum members,

I and my son are trying to add an RC motor to a non-electronic toy, but we don’t know how to mechanically link the motor we have to axles.

This is the toy we want to modify:

And this is the toy from where we are sourcing the electronics from (Huina Dumper Truck):

Here is the challenge:

What we have tried already:
  • Using a rubber band to link axle to the motor (the plastic on the rotor has ripped the rubber band)
  • We thought of using cog wheels, but the distance between the rotors and axles is uneven and quite specific, so I'm not sure this would be possible
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

EDIT: really sorry, I can't seem to include images. Will need to wait until I have 10 posts
