Thanks Lou and Nat, you always have my back. There's a few minor things I have to add, like the sound system, MP3 player, the race radio antenna, and the roof cam pod. These are all simple things and shouldn't take that long to do. I'm glad you like it so far. It's been a long couple of months. It's almost as if I built this thing straight up from the chassis. It's been a challenge, but a fun one. I've found this much more interesting than just smacking a bunch of lights into a pre-made shell, like I did with Blue Streak. I learned a few things and will go back to the Blue Streak and apply them. I have two more frequencies opened up in 49MHz-land, so maybe I'll find something else I want to have???

I don't know if you guys saw the race at Talladega, but it was a heck of an event. Especially when Carl Edwards, the driver of the REAL Aflac Ford, put it into the fence on the last lap. Here's the video link to YouTube:

Here are some pics:

EDIT: For those of you who didn't get the whole "Ricky Bobby" storyline, this should help you out...

For those who don't know who Bobby Allison is, this is the video of his wreck (which looks eerily familiar) from 23 years ago in 1987...

Hey gang!!!
It's been a while since my last post, but I'm back at it again. After inspecting more close-up pics of the car after Daytona (there's been several revisions since then that are not reflected in the Monster Car 1:1 scale), I've gone back to the modification table. Here's some more handy work. As stated before, some work will be carried over to the Blue Streak when I complete the Aflac car. These changes should be the last to Aflac before he "flies the coop."
First off, extensive roof work:
Take a pack of these and cut the green and pink ones down with an X-acto...

Take a pack of these and use nippers to cut down the stem on the black one...
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062232

Epoxy a small bead on top, painted black...
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st..._SearchResults

Paint one of these black as well for the camera pod...
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...3+90002+503424

Drill some holes, and here's how it goes together:

Secondly, I had to make the shell removable so as not to mess it up when working inside the chassis, so some of these did the trick:

and here you have it...

Here they are on the Aflac car at Daytona...
This is similar to the technology used for screen protectors on PDAs... just on a larger scale. Just as the protector of your PDA protects against scratches, so too do these Mylar clings. Should something on the track fly up into the windshield, not only will it protect the drivers eyes from glare produced by windshield scratches, it will also help prevent the Lexan windshield from cracking should it get impacted.

No, I don't take this racing stuff seriously...

That's why I have a tire in my entertainment room.

I wonder if Moe still pokes his head in to see what I did to his Rubicon??? It's sure not the same as the day I got it. Here's what it used to look like out of the FedEx box...

OK guys...
I placed the final items on the Aflac truck last night. I'll try to get some pics posted soon. Work is getting in the way again. DuraTrax finally made good on their offer of replacements for the oil shocks on the Blue Streak and Aflac. I'll post up some pics of the aluminum shocks they sent as well. I'll keep those in reserve in the event the plastic shocks give out again at the o-rings.

OK folks...
Back to work for me on the car. I've added a few more decals...
Aflac logos around camera pod so when the camera is on TV, the logo is in every shot possible:

Updated Ford Fusion nose logo for 2009 (the one I had on was circa 2006, pre-NASCAR Car of Tomorrow):

Added front nose cutter adjustments/struts/supports:

Changed tire rims from chrome to reflective black with blue beadlocks (just like the 1:1 scale Monster Car):

Everything's so crazy, the Duck went into hiding:

As promised, Nat, here are the replacement oil shocks DuraTrax sent to me in the mail:

WOW!!! I'm tired. Tomorrow, I'll be putting things back together and giving the Monster Car it's final video run for a while. I'm going to start focusing on the Blue Streak to apply things learned from the Monster Car to it. First off will be putting the disconnects into the wires running between the shell and the tub. From there, the Blue Streak light needs repaired with a stronger bonding agent, like say the plastic epoxy, as the hot melt glue just isn't holding it on good anymore. Of course, I haven't done anything with the batteries since I started work on the Aflac Monster Car, so they'll need to be put on the chargers and reconditioned with a fresh charge.

Thanks for the info, Nat. It really sucked having the oil leak out over everything. The new plastic ones have held up so far, so you know what they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." At least I have better shocks in reserve. And Lou, thanks for the applause. I really need it. The encouragement you both give is keeping me going. My next procedure will be to add speakers and an MP3 player. I won a 256MB MP3 player while at a broadcasters trade convention in Las Vegas as a door prize. I'll put some of the Duck's ringtones in there. I still haven't been able to find out the name of the song playing in the car in the commerical. ANYONE WITH VCAST MUSIC ID CAN WHO CAN HELP A BROTHER OUT???? Here are the speakers I'm going to put in...

I'm going to have to pop the metal screens off and do a number on the cones and surrounds. The magnet domes in the middle and the surrounds need to be painted black. The cone needs to be a metallic green. Sharpies will probably be the best tools as they won't screw with the sound ballistics. Paint will add weight and prevent the speakers from pushing outward easily, resulting in poor sound reproduction.
As for my friend, Aflac, he broke out of his egg for another adventure. Here it is in another set of adventures. As always, click the pic and see the video. Hope you enjoy...
