Monster F-150 1/6 scale "Mods" with pics
Hey guys......i think i may have shown this at the tail end of someones thread like 6 months ago, heres its own thread.....i got a monster truck for ya. It truly is a monster..........30" long. Its a Nikko F150 that started life as a Harley Davidson edition. It came with proportional steering and ESC, but i fried it and put in Hobby grade(imagine that). I stretched big ol' HPI 6" tall tires over the stock rims...........fits real good, and threw a futaba 3010 servo in it along with a 7 cell sprint esc. Its powered by a 35T modified 540 motor running on a 7 cell 3800 nimh, when you cant really "change" the gearing you have to change the turns on the motor. Its got real good power, can spin the tires starting out. Stripped it down bare anf added 3 coats of sunflower yellow, and added my signature "bedliner".......textured paint covered by a coat of flat black. Aluminum frame supports were added as well as aluminum oil filled shocks. Led lights are in the front and rear, and i "tinted" the windows. Hope you like the "Monster"

Looks Great bud.[8D] The addition of fenderwells & dual exhaust really sets it off.[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]
Do you have any pics of how you mounted the H/G motor??

Actually the stock motor was a 540 Can motor, pretty weak, but the mounting screw diameter was the same (25mm) so this motor went right in! I had to play with the turns of the motor to get it right..........i started with a 19t modified and it was geared so high it would barely move..............then a 27t, not much better.............the 35t is a great motor for off road/climbing type vehicles. I think more of you guys should look into the higher turn 540s instead of always 380s..............you can mod them to fit smaller rigs and get some great power.
Here is the motor.........i run it on seven cells http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXTRC0&P=7
And here are some 380 size "torque" motors for those who still want to go 380 size http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXVDV1&P=7

Thanks for the info......was wondering if the 540s had the same hole pattern.
i've used the duratrax 380s that are in your links..they are pretty good...the best I've found for torque are the 70 turn 380s from redcat racing.
