i have a 7c and want to use it on an older 4 ch radio. the guy at the store said it would work. so i follow the directions, but when i flip the trainer switch on the 7c the 4c doesn't take over.. but if i do it the other way. the 4c acts as the master no problem and the 7c works as the slave. Could my trainer button on my 7c be broken?

Hi Joe123s,
If you have the older blue lettered 4VF or a 4NBF, the first run of 6EXA's when used as master will make your servos chatter. Since the first run of these 6EXA's there have been no problems with older radios. You will see an FAQ on our website regarding an update that we do at no charge on first run 6EXA's for this problem.
If you are getting no repsonse at all, I would suspect either the trainer switch on the 6EXA or the trainer cord itself as being the problem.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.
Sincerely,

Hi Joe123s,
Since it is the 4NBF that I mentioned earlier, I would say the 6EXA is one of the first run radios that we received.
I would recommend that you send it in to us to be repaired under warranty.
Thanks, Krysta

Hi Joe123s,
Please excuse me, "oldtimers" seems to be creeping up on me!
As I am writing this to you, we have people who are looking into this for us. As soon as I hear back, I will let you know what they have found out and let you know immediately.
Thanks, Krysta

HI Joe123s,
We have had some testing going on here the last few days on the problem that you are seeing with the 7C and various student radios.
Some very old units, made before 1997 are just not compatible with current technology. The 7C will work fine with any Futaba radio made after 1997, there is no need for any modifications to the 7C. If you do not have another transmitter to use as a student other than the Conquest, you can send the Conquest into our service center and we can modify this so that it will work with your 7C for you.
Thanks, Krysta
