I paid $500 for these. I think it was a good deal...

I needed to upgrade one of my kids monster bashers after a few years and I found a newer EMaxx with light usage. The guy also had a fullsize Summit and I needed a new basher MT as well, so I negotiated with him.
I got a lightly used E-Maxx with 2.4GHz radio, a lightly used Summit with 2.4GHz radio and 8 8.4v 3000mAh Traxxas NIMH packs in good shape for $500.
I think I did ok. I basically paid $200 for an RTR EMaxx and $300 for an RTR Summit with 8 free batteries.

It goes without saying that I already have brushless setups for both of them!
The EMaxx is getting a HK 120A ESC + Novak 6.5 motor combo.
The Summit is getting a Mamba Monster + 2000kV 1/8 motor.

I had good luck with my older son's EMaxx. It is pretty dang reliable on 4S power pushing a Novak HVPRO system. I think as long as I stick with 4S or less on these guys, they will be plenty fast and fun for us.

Ya, they should be but 6s is always a blast too... I have an old school E-Maxx (short arm version) with a MMM2350 setup and it is a blast to drive, but I haven't tried 6s in it seeing how it is hard to find certain replacement parts for it.

I payed $620 for a new summit about a month ago, today I checked the tower site and they are down to $580 and then I come on here and see this one that looks hardly used for $300. Dale I kinda hate you right now.
Still love my summit though.

Nice find. I would have bought those if I'd found the deal.
Actually if anyone has a similar deal/price point let me know. In the market for a full size summit and a brushless e-maxx.

Ok, so the Emaxx is getting a Hobbyking 120A ESC. This has been a decent ESC so far, though I doubt it is a true 120A. No matter. It will be running a sensored Novak HV 6.5 motor. I will probably run a pretty mild battery setup in this guy. The faster I make it, the more my kid will break it.
The Summit is getting the Hobbywing XERUN 150A M6A combo (sensored 2000kV). I will be running a few 2S 5000mAh 30C packs in it. This one is mine.

Why did you settle on the 2250kV? I reckon the 2000 has a little more torque but they are probably pretty equivalent.
I really wanted to buy a Castle or Tekin setup, but how do I justify the extra cost when the XERUN has such a good following and good reviews, its $120 cheaper and it comes with a programmer!
This reminds me, I need to poke over to your project thread and see what you are up to.

I just figured that the 2250 will give me a little more speed. And i know where your coming from with the castle or tekin. for the price of the tekin from tower hobbies without discounts i can get the xerun setup, charger, and 2 2s batteries

China gets a free pass to import into our economy and I do feel bad for our domestic brands that have to somehow compete on an unfair playing field. Really, and in all honesty, Chinese imports should carry heavier tariffs so that their competitive advantage is leveled. They shouldn't be able to offer basically equivalent products for 1/2 or 2/3 of the cost because of the trade imbalance. In the end, does that mean my costs go up? Yes. Does that mean I will buy from domestic companies more when the prices are equalized? Yes it does. I just can't justify now more then ever spending $120-$150 for a domestic system.
The RC market is a perfect example that China is dumping into our market basically at will.

The Summit got its tire mod. I usually prefer to run lighter and shorter wheel/tire combos because it is lighter and reduces breakage. I am starting with a 58/18 combo first.
Also, if they are good enough for the Savage Flux HP, they are good enough for my Summit!

I cycled all of the 8 batteries and they are all strong like bull. That's a good thing. Traxxas must use pretty decent cells in their packs.

Ok, the Summit got its new body. I was in an airbrushing mode this weekend. Honestly, I thought a blacked out body would look so good on this, I just shot it with a single color and I LOVE it.
