Default Easiest way to change the revo 3.3 spur gear

Hey guys. What is the simplest, least time consuming way to change the spur gear on the revo 3.3. been a while since I meesed with these trucks and we need to change my buddies in a little bit. Was his first truck and a mild lack of understanding cooked it to the point of no return before we caught it Only because we rolled it backwards and heard the 3 chewed teeth catching on the clutch bell teeth.

unscrew the center skid plate from underneath the truck and that should free the tranny to the point where it is connected by a few linkages that are easy to take off the tranny. and if that doesn't work, the engine is only 4 screws away from coming out on the bottom where the engine sits. Once its free enuf to come out, simply unscrew the nut that tightens/loosens the slipper clutch and your spur should be free. There are a few bearings inside the spur that need to come out and be fitted into the other one and then put it back on the same way you took the other one off. And remember as a reference, the slipper is always better to be tight then not tight enuf. Just snug will do, not "hard to get it off next time" tight

Do not do what above is said to do!!!

Remove the four engine screws. Remove the three screws tht hold the sspur gear to the assembly. Replace spur and re install the 3 screws to the assembly. Re installt eh 4 engine screws.

[sm=50_50.gif]..imo, taking off the tranny is easier than taking off the engine...cos you skip putting on threadlock once you put bakc the engine again...

I do it this way cause I don't like messing witht he center axles and all that. Try both ways and see what you like.

THE SPUR IS NOT HELD ON BY THE NUT THAT ADJUSTS THE SLIPPER

it's just the 3 screws on the perimeter of the gear

the tranny is plastic and I would avoid taking it on/off as much as possible so that the threads stay in good shape

you may be able to just loosen the motor, slide it to the max adjustment and get it out without taking off motor or trans

If you remove the engine, don't forget to reset the mesh on the CB and spur gear.

if you remove the engine by removing the four engine screws the mesh will not be changed. The revo was designed to keep the gear mesh even when the engine is removed.

We did it by pulling the engine and was very easy. Thanks guys.
My friends truck also turned out to have a toasted stock clutch in the clutch bell. His name is molsen3385 and he has a thread started for best revo 3.3 clutch to replace.

Anyone had any clutch problems?
