Default tmaxx HSN

ok...
i got my t-maxx3.3 last friday
and today i finally fire it up and break in the engine
after break in
i was running around... pretty good truck...tons of power....wheelie and stuff...
but when i check the temperture...wow...270...
i know 270 is still safe...
but....that's the factory setting for all the needle~!!
flash for the LSN...and 4 turns out for the HSN
so i have to richen it to keep it under 250
for the tmaxx owner...what is ur temp at 4 turns out?
or how many turns out when u running around 250?

i am running 25%fuel...
thanks

Well, not all traxxas engines will operate the best at the same exact temps, as no two engines are going to be alike in terms of the settings needed to get them to run properly. A normal operating range for the 3.3 I would say should be 230-270(give or take). Anything more than 270, and that getting a little too close to comfort; anything less than around 230 or so, and there is a chance the piston/sleeve/rod wont have a chance to properly "seat" themselves or get up to proper operating temp....

If you are breaking in, richen the high-speed, and turn up the idle.
Sometimes the stock settings for break-in are not right for your part of the world.
After break-in lean it out. Keep the low-speed alittle on the rich side.
You want the motor to idle for 10 secounds or so before it loads up and stalls.
If it idles and never loads up and dies it is to lean on the low speed.

My 3.3 usually runs about 240-250. But as matt said, temps can vary quite a bit in diffrent parts of the world

I've got about a gallon through mine and I've only checked the temp once during break in and never since I tuned it. I can tell by the way it runs if it's too hot then I just richen it a bit and keep going.
