I am looking at buying a Traxxas Revo from a buddy of mine, except I dont know what i should offer him.. At my local hobby shop i can get one for about $450 new.
The truck is in great condition. and it comes with all the stuff i need to get going. such as everthing that comes in the Traxxas Revo 3.3 RTR kit. it also comes with a gas filler and a some nitro gas.
So can you help me out and tell me what you think i should offer him?
Thanks,
Justin

I would say $250 to $300 would be OK. Anything closer to $400 you are better off spending another $50 (or less) and buy brand new. I was in the same situation when I was considering buying my nitro Revo a couple years ago. Definitely glad I decided to spend the few extra bucks and go brand new.

I just picked up a new one with the 5 cell Rx battery, 6 cell easy start battery, gallon of fuel($33.00), fuel bottle for $560. $400.00 for a used one sound high to me. Hobby People have it on sale for $439.99.

i would get a new one but I am just not that serious into this stuff. the only reason i am looking at getting one is because at my motocross races there is a lot of spare time to do stuff when i am at the races, and i see people driving these cars around so i wanted one. I definitely do not want to spend more than $400 on an RC car.. thats just crazy to me.

I too would say that $250-300 is a fair price range for this revo considering all that he is including in the "offer". If its any more than that, then I would try and "bargain" the price down with him if at all possible....good luck with it man! hope ya end up getting it because I can tell ya u wont regret it!!!

I would NEVER buy used on the internet!!! I would haggle with your friend because at least you KNOW where it is coming from, and WHO owned it... Some used RC's on ebay, etc. can have 2,3,4,5,6 owners!!!
I would say to offer your friend NO more than $325ish.... If it is still like new, you don't wanna insult him and say 'oh, i'll give ya $220 for it'... if ANY of my friends offered me that, I would just keep the darn thing!!!! Good luck, and remember... PLEASE for the love of all things holy!! DONT buy USED on EBAY!!!!!!

I would say buy it from your friend for like 325-350 ish and if he wont take that go and but a new one... My brother and I both got used trucks for christmas last year... they both run but with a lot more problems then a new one, the engines are older and stuff brakes easier ( more use) Also like the other people said you never know how the truck is going to run... You can say what ever you want on ebay and it is not hard to lie. I would buy new if you have the money, or if you want to have a little more fun, buy your friends and then buy some upgrades for it, that is really the fun of the hobby...
Good luck with what ever you decide to do, but be aware of what you buy on the internet

P.S. Another good idea would be to take some pictures of your friends truck and post them on this forum and the "pros" on here will really tell you what it is worth!

If your friend won't take 300.00 get a new one.I have a couple used rc's and they all have different issues when I got them. You also get to breakin your own engine and know that it was done right. You never get close to the new price for anything when you sell it used so it's life.I say no more than 300.00.

Lol the funny thing is he said hes not really into it and dosnt want to spend a lot of money.
Once you get one youll be sucked in, youll want to upgrade and change everything and then do it all over again.lol
