Was going thru some old RC Stuff and cleaned up my Traxxas Sledge Hammer, this was my very first experience with The Radio Control World, I have alot of spare parts for this beauty, Full ball bearings, i used koysho shocks, and have kept the rest mostly stock,
Are there many of these out their that our left? Enjoy I notice there is still some interest for the OLD RC's, If anyone else has a sledge post up. Oh yeah, post number 1.
Thanks for the Look

What exactly was the traxxas "sledgehammer"? was it a much much much older traxxas model that was out well before any of their monster trucks or something? Only reason I ask is because Ive never heard of it till now.....[:-]

Yeah, it was one of their first models, really old. That thing is a collectors item me thinks. An automatic ebay check shows that it holds no real value, I'm thinking you wont find many owners of these here. Aren't they about 12 years old or something?

Thanks for the posts all, yes this truck is around 15 years old, I remember looking thru the RC Magazines, before the internet got real big, I was torn between this and a Clod Buster, I wanted more of a race truck. Shortly after they came out with the Eagle, I have have one of those in the box, I will pull it out and post an image, I never got the chance to put it together.

I had one of these 17 years ago. The nylon parts were white. This thing would wheelie real easy like. I had a lot of run time on mine. The tires never wore out, they got weather cracked first. MMMMm memories, good times

the Traxxas SledgeHammer was released in 1989 and was later replaced by the Stampede in 1994.

Cool, you just brought me back down memory lane and looking at the Legacy Models, I started wondering why Traxxas didn't keep going with their "Pro" division. Kind of like HPI's SS versions with hopped up parts. I wouldn't mind seeing some kits from Traxxas, damnit a lot of times this kind of stuff makes me wish I was born in 1970 so I could experience all the R/C stuff blooming, and maybe to get a chance to fly an F-14

Thanks again for the posts, I will post if I decide to sell, I tore up a planetary gear in the Sledge Hammer when I first bought to much motor and too many wheelies. Fortunately I purchased some extra planetary gears, I rebuilt the unit, from then on I put bearings in all my cars, and keep the motor turns down, I think I have 4 new sets still in the package.
oh well thanks for the looks again and the posts.
