Its both. Its flammable because you can light it on fire, and if it wasnt explosive, it wouldnt run the engine.... what is the point of this poll?

well 100% pure nitro is pretty muc a bomb. its very dangerous if exposed to light, ive seen it in a movie before.on the other hand if its a % like nitro fuel, its only flamable.(still is a little explosive to make the engine run)

Well to get technical, gasoline isn't flammable...the vapors are. Fuel burns at a determined rate, explosives explode.

Here's a cool vid of a fuel charge burning inside a motor, motors run by pressure and burning fuel creates pressure.

So my vote is.......just flammable.

Well here's an experiment. Pour a little spot of nitro on the ground and try to light it. It will hard as hell to light, but when it does light it will react to it and be gone in a split second. Like I said in the other thread, if you tried to start a top fuel dragster or funny car on nitro, it would shoot the piston out of the block like a rocket. Which is why they start them on alcohol. Hence, being explosive. I know what you mean when it has to be under pressure and stuff though.

Actually, glow fuel burns for a decent amount of time... I've almost set my house on fire with a bottle of nitro when I was 13. I held the bottle next to the stove while there was an open flame and gave it a small squeeze. At first, it exploded in my face with about a 3-4ft diameter pop which shook the whole house and then proceeded to burn on the stove and shelf above it for about 20 seconds before I put it out with the sink hose. So from my experience, both...

As for glow fuel thats ignited outside, it will just burn with a white flame for a couple of seconds, no exploding.

No, just wanted to point out that there is a great deal of age groups here and all walks of life practically.

What may be common sense to some is just a learning experience for others. No question is a stupid one but this one I can see where it can be bashed, so hopefully the thread starter has a sense of humor.

Someone wants to bash my questions no prob, i'll take it...gotta have some fun here too. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I thought it was kinda funny....But then im the kind of person that likes to post RTFM when someone asks a question that can be answered with a little reading of the manual... It does say right on the label... Flammable AND inflammable. (both of which mean the same thing, That it will burn.) It doesn't say explosive, because its not until you compress it, you cant pour it into a cup and have it explode. Many flammable things can cause an explosion if ignited in an enclosed area. So iF I had to pick just one choice, I would say nitro fuel is flammable....

Ahh boy... This whole poll started from this [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8668427/tm.htm]thread of a Proline Fuel Tank[/link] for longer run times.

I thought some may find it interesting how this whole thing got started.

No question is a stupid one but this one
Ahhhh, every time I see that I think of the saying

"There's no such thing as a stupid question, there are, however, a lot of inqusitive idiots"

Not "PC" I know, but amusing none-the-less...

it doesn't really "EXPLODE" , it gets commpressed then ignited, then burns rapidly creating pressure forcing the piston back down...if it was exploding our glow plugs AND motors wouldent last 1 tank..so im sticking with flammable

jimbo

top fuel dragsters run on 90% nitro
if nitro made a topfuel dragster piston shoot thru the block than no engine would handle nitro u idiot
get ur facts straight
u obviously dont know what the hell u are talking about so stop wasting bandwidth
ur life has no meaning ur just a waste of space
