Does anyone know the weight difference between the Trencher X and the 40 series Trencher tires? I can't decide which to go with???
Yeah ones taller and less wide, and ones shorter and wider

Yes I am aware of that, but i'm wondering if they weight the same. I can;t find any info anywhere on the weight.

RE: Traxxas Summit

I would guess that they would be very close in weight. Cause one being smaller in oneway as the other set is smaller in the other way

You want the Trencher X tires for the Summit.  Unless you plan to do a lot of crawling and really want a narrower, taller tire.

So what's better for bashing. taller or wider?

LaTuFu 03-01-2012 09:25 AM

RE: Traxxas Summit

I like the wider tires for bashing.  Better stability, more shock absorption.  Just my personal preference.

How about the stress on the drivline. Is it a lot?

LaTuFu 03-01-2012 10:03 AM

RE: Traxxas Summit

Any time you add weight, you're increasing the stress.

But as long as you keep the weight somewhere similar to the stock Summit tires, it should handle it just fine.

Put it this way, I haven't had any more issues running my Revo with Trencher X's than I was with the stock tires. If anything, I'm having fewer issues because I'm not traction rolling all the time like I was on the stock Talons.

Yah these are actually going on my Savage Flux HP XL. Going with Axial 8 spoke black/chrome wheels jsut need to decide on which trenchers to go with.

IMO for you xl i would get the wider ones. Whereas with my ERBE i would go with the taller ones

Cool thanks for the help fellas. I'm going to go with the wider Trencher X tires.

Any suggestions on a pinion tooth change for my Summit? Since adding the Big Joe's and Cheyyenne wheels it seems like i've lost a little speed? Should I bump the pinion tooth up a little?

If you are mounting the tires on the Axial 8 Spokes, I think your only choice might be the original trenchers. The T X's are a Traxxas Bead tire. The Axial 8 Spokes are a 40 series wheel.

Ahh I think you are right about that. Dang I totally overlooked that. Looks like i'll be getting the beadlock wheels. Oh well might add the trencher 40 series on the Summit with the axial 8 spoke wheels.

Proline Trencher X tires on Desperado wheels are 55 grams heavier per tire/wheel than the stock Geodes. So thats a bit of weight when you add up all 4.
Stock Geodes: 330 gr
Trencher X on Desperado's: 385 gr
