RE: just bought a used t-maxx .15, some help plz

dont buy anything aluminum if you want to bash. its not as strong as the plastic parts that RPM makes. the aluminum just bends and sends the shock to other parts of the truck instead of just flexing and absorbing the shock like the RPM plastic makes. i would buy everything you can from RPM for the tmaxx and the 3.3 is just a drop in motor. it will mount up without any mods.

i agree with snoking, i've broke alot of parts but i have yet to break anything from rpm,, and there parts are cheap to buy!!

the a arm's at my local hobby shop were only $9.95 a set.

i just wish they made bulkheads :(

Aye, I've heard RPM stuff for everything that you can get as well.

Upgrade the bulkheads to aluminum because they crack pretty easily apparently and rpm doesn't make any.

thanks guys.
i guess ill have to cheak out what my lhs has when i go tomorrow.
and i dont need to beef up any drive train with the 3.3 goin in?
i wanna get some stronger driveshafts for it too, rpm?

rpm doesnt make driveshafts,

alot of guys seem to like the traxxas steel driveshafts, i run steel ones similar to the mips, i beleave there rd logics, not sure, got em on ebay but they have held up great, and you'll probably wanna look into axles too (the ones going to the wheels)

there's seems to be alot of good parts for this, i run integy steel axles, dont listen to anyone telling you "all" of integys stuff is junk, these axles are stout!, i wouldnt personaly jump at to much of there aluminum stuff, but these things are beefy!.

and, if your going to buy all this stuff to up grade it i highly recomend getting the a arms, and axles for a 2.5 or 3.3, as the ones for the .15 are narrower, you gain alot of width doing this, and the truck wont roll as easy, and will handle better (i know from exsperience)
you will however need to also get tierods for the 2.5 or 3.3 also.
I run titanuim tierods and have yet to break one.

another thing to note that if you go with 3.3 stuff, the 3.3 axles and 3.3 axle carriers (part at the end of the a arms) is different between the 2.5 and the 3.3, the 3.3 uses a larger bearing on the inside of it, so the carriers and axles wont mix.

i run rpm carriers for the 2.5, they have a larger then stock bearing anyway, and have worked great.

hope this helps

Isaac

u dont need to upgrade the drivetrain with the 3.3 in it. its fine the way it came from the factory. if you put a new motor with more power i would suggest it. the traxxas ones are strong and have not failed me yet.

my bro in law has one,, they seem to be alot more axle then the stock 15's that were in mine,,
trust me,, the stock 15's would never hold up to RB power :)

gotta love rb man!!! i cant beleave the balls my 323 has man

I did see where anyone mentioned this, if you have, sorry to repeat but your title says that you have a T-maxx .15. If that is true and it currently has the Pro .15 engine then you will also need to buy the conversion kit for the 3.3 throttle linkage. The Pro .15 is a rotary carb, while the Trx 3.3 has a slide carb and the linkages are totally different.

Keep this in mind also. The .15 t-,axx had stronger parts than the 3.3 parts. The only weak point I have found on the .15 is the spur gear. All of the drive shafts on the .15 are far superior in strength to the 3.3 factory drivetrain. Keep this in mind when purchasing aftermarket parts. Some things just dont need to be replaced. Even my .15's with os 18 motors are all intact with respect to drivetrain. Good luck with your build and also no one has mentioned this but I think this should be a thought for you. Instead of the short life of the 3.3, why not get an OS .18 for it. You can still get them on Feebay.

No Problem. Here is the kit you need, the part number is 4900. Here is the link to it on towerhobbies, it says that it is for the 2.5 but the 3.3 has the same throttle setup and has everything down to the correct size drill bit to use. Good Luck

You will probally have problems with the front driveshafts. If you are gonna upgrade the arms to Rpm. Get the arms for the 2.5/3.3 They will be wider and will also require new driveshafts. The 2.5/3.3 drive shafts are a little larger and will handle the extra power alot better.
