so what is the best t-maxx3.3 is it the #4908 or the #4909?

I'm not quite sure which model # this is, but the one that is supposedly the "best"; is the most current, "beefed up" edition of the 3.3; the one that has the bigger tires, bigger wheels, better shocks, no reverse, etc. etc; I think but dont quote me on it; that that one is suppose to be the better of the 2 tmaxx's.

the better one is cheaper then the older one,#4908 is the new one #4909 is the older one with reverse ;)

I'm pretty sure it is cheaper because of the missing reverse. I got it for the bigger tires and wheels, and it comes with the Resonator pipe.

Good day everyone. I myself am very happy with the NEW tmaxx #4908. The price is cheaper because of the missing reverse. Not many people take the time to truely realize the amount of missing parts due to the reverse being gone. Reverse servo, servo horn, linkage, rubber boot, arm inside tranny and gears. And maybe a couple more. Differences are extended chassis, which means longer drive shafts and chassis braces, bigger tires and wheels and of course extended body. I just drilled more holes in my silverado bodies since there's about 2 1/2 inch difference. I also have the old version Tmaxx 3.3. I'm in the process now of changing my FOC tranny in the 4909 to the new 2 Speed FO out of the 4908 tmaxx.

(Forgot to mention I now have a O.S. Max .21RG bigblock on the 4908.) Even after 10 tanks through the 3.3 it's just now getting managable. If anyone out there has problems after your breakin with the 3.3, don't give up. 7 tanks of breakin isn't enough. Rumor is, it takes 10 for the 3.3 to get good and a lot of old timers swear by it!

I don't have any complaints from either. Although. . . . . . the 4908 is a pain because the exhaust comes out the side and sprays residue all over tire, rim, a-arms, axles and the bulkheads. And of course as the tires on the 4909, Two of the tires on the 4908 have come unglued. No big deal since I enjoy working on mine.

As for the best? I will go with the NEW version #4908. The greatest thing is most tmaxx parts are interchangable, except for the chassis, chassis braces, drive shafts and body.

well what big block .21 said about it taking 10 tanks. maybe it's true. but my friend just got one. It IS AMAZING. it did only take about 6 tanks. though not exactly following instrutions. it works great. Durable to say the least. and don't forget FAST!!! who needs reverse?

Seems to me the new one is like an S-MAXX with a 3.3, except it's 4wd.

i am also looking at a 3.3. does the newer one pop wheelies as good as the older one. i mean, the tires are bigger so it takes quite a bit more to get it up, right?.[sm=50_50.gif] Also wanted to get started in nitro, anyone out there give me any tips on it you can pm if you want or send me an email at [email protected].

In response to the new 3.3 doing wheelies as good as the old 3.3, I don't know how easily the old one did them. After break in was finished with about 10 tanks i swapped the motor out for my old O.S. .21. It does wheelies but I need a small bump to get the tires in the air and then it'll carry it into second gear. The 3.3 is now on a forward only conversion and it'll wheelie, but it also needs a bit of a bump to get the tires off the ground first also.
Why. . . . . possibly you ask? I run with my nephew and brother-in-law and i'd rather keep the tires and power on the ground. As of now, I smoke them everytime. Change the gears out and you could very easily wheelie all day long. We run our Engines pretty rich for Pennsylvania weather. And they are constantly moving. I'd rather go fast then spend my time doing back flips from a dead stop. Course after typing all this I think I'll set one up for wheelies and the other for high speed. Hope this helped a little. Bottom line, if it won't do wheelies change the gears and it will. There is no lack of power with the New 3.3. Everytime I fire'em up I get Perma-Grin!

I have the new #4908. No reverse, bigger tires! Thing is bad ass. The way I look at it having to reverse will make up in wieght for all the alumium I put on
