fastest SB revo???

what the fastest anyones gone in a small block revo? im up to the challenge, unless its like 70mph.. i got a place to run it, the motor to push it, and the stuff to make it super light.... im guessing close to 7lbs. anyone know?? ive seen 55mph or so...thanks for any input... also im gonna buy the bushnel radar gun ( spelling?)

RE: fastest SB revo???

I got 54mph without trying too much with a mildly modified OS.18TZ.

With the engine fully modified i got 50mph on 15T 38T (Stock) only. Will have to restest top speed later.

:)

so i guess 60+ is obtainable. heres what im starting with... 18tz, traxxas bb header, bored out dc. 17-38 gearing, running on 30% o'donnel... plan to switch rear wheel drive, replace shocks with links, remove front diff and drive shafts... only down side is rear brake only.. edit.... overrevo, your vids turned me to the tz. its a powerful motor thats for sure. mabye you could mod one for me.

I am running TZ aswell. Its hell fast with this engine. I don't think I would hit 50mph, I think around 40ish.

RE: fastest SB revo???

im pertty confidant ill break 50. a stock revo could almost hit 50 with higher gearing. mine will probly be 2 pounds lighter then you revo,( mabye more) with higher gearing.

RE: fastest SB revo???

Mayhem is right, everything counts. You are shaving off a very high percentage of weight when taking off 2lbs a truck. RWD will definitely help, I've done all of these trucks with my Savage, except I was lazy and left the diff inside the bulkhead cause it takes long to access them on the old Savages. Beware that breaking really sucks with only the rear, but it comes at the price of removing weight and rotating mass. You should definitely hit 50 with that setup.

Tom.

i hope,... im ordering my radar gun tomorrow, getting a 19 or larger clutch bell. and ill probly run foam buggy wheels in the front... gonna try my talons and badlands for the rear. every thing that isn't needed will be removed, except rollbar and wing.. gotta protect my investment.

heres the first set up..definitely lighter. ill probly loose another 1/2 - 3/4 lbs. when i get lighter tires. theres a pic of every thing removed..

rcnitrohead 03-14-2009 08:32 PM

RE: fastest SB revo???

Damn that is hard core:), you'll definitely be going fast with that.. Only thing I'd be concerned with is driving on a bumpy road with those "shocks" lol[8D]

absolutemayhem 03-14-2009 08:37 PM

RE: fastest SB revo???

LOL.. luckily it real smooth where i run... i just balanced my tires, babys are running smooth now.lol im determined to break 55mph...we'll see next weekend what i run.

rcnitrohead 03-14-2009 08:58 PM

RE: fastest SB revo???

^ Yep thats really important. Both sets of my tires I use on my Savage are unbalanced and the foam has began to get lumpy- that kills your acceleration and speed and adds stress to your knuckles. You've just reminded me I need to do that when I finally unglue all of my tires and do a 17mm conversion on everything[sm=thumbup.gif]

I see a bent pushrod! Looks like you will be flying with that thing. I think I could break 50 when my new CB comes, the old clutch was only catching slightly and wore out the inside of the cb so now I have the MIP clutch shoes and a new cb setup to try out. I need to fill the diffs aswell.

How do you balance your tyres?

thanks guys,... i decided to remove the roll bar and shorten the fuel line.also made a cool head protector just incase i do flip..man this revo is sitting low, the engine head is barely above the tires...and im thinking about taking out first gear. it will take off some weight and i wont have to worry bout loosing control when second gear hits....taking it for a test trive tommorow, weather permitting, to see how it handles. also i removed the engine brace.

fabrimacator21 03-15-2009 02:32 AM

RE: fastest SB revo???

LOL.... "in the ghetto"... lmao-head protector.

I'd leave first gear in there. You'll most likely be out of range by the time you hit top speed if you pull it.

LOL... had to give you a hard time about that one.;):D

By the way you owe me $50... Remember?

RE: fastest SB revo???

what does she weigh at the moment? if you want a little more engine protection, chop that roll cage up and put some of it over just the engine itself. that is, if you dont mind adding a little weight! i'd hate to see you do all this work then completely crack that engine in half like some guys have done.

absolutemayhem 03-15-2009 11:18 AM

RE: fastest SB revo???

yeah, im a little worried about. im thinking of just running the button with out the head. but im pertty sure ill overheat.....am right now it weighs just over 5lbs with out tires.

just drove 2 tanks on my street. its a beast!!! it still wheelies from a stop and it stable enough to floor it. it dont like bumps, but loves the smooth stuff.also traction was a lot better then i anticipated....... a 17t clutchbell wont be enough, it tops out with in 150' definitely haulin' ass....

SOB!!!! you know how fustrating it is to buy something online with a PS3. " FOGET ABOUT IT!" anyways i just ordered my BUSHNELL SPEEDSTER II radar gun. $75 shipped. .........only online store that works good with my ps3 is tower hobbies.........

absolutemayhem 03-16-2009 04:29 PM

RE: fastest SB revo???

cant wait to test it... and im thinking of putting the rear shocks back on, since about 70% of the weight is in the rear. it should make it oversteer less.. right now i got 50% steering throw to settle it down. but the rear likes to wander when you give steering input at speed.

NitroVenom 03-16-2009 09:20 PM

RE: fastest SB revo???

You could probably get away without running them because you only plan to go straight, Turning what-so-ever will put a lot of strain on your a-arms and knuckles. While your at it you could take off the reciever cover and just zip-tie your reciever down. That or tape. Along with the metal rod mounting the air-filter on. Just make sure you zip-tie the bottom of the air filter around the carb.

forgot to update... i hit 47mph with a very mild 17-38 gearing..i could of got a few mph higher if i leaned out,, but figured it was not worth it because it was under geared anyways. motor was running at 218 in 88° weather.( temped right after pass) . i also blew $40 worth of glow plugs to...(problem fixed)....ohh, and who thought a revo with 1/2" ground clearance coluld still pull rolling wheelies...i paid the price via a 30' skid on my tz head. untill i get my 19-36 gearing, and some guts to finally lean out my motor, it will be on hold

Hey man,

I think its cool your going for a top speed run, but lose the badlands and get you some street tires, You will probably have your 50.

absolutemayhem 03-27-2009 08:29 PM

RE: fastest SB revo???

yeah, im looking at phaltlines. they seem to be the tire of choice....
