Plastic vs Aluminum?
 

Hey I am new to the nitro R/C world,I was planning on buying a revo and Aluminum skids,bumbers,A-arms and any thing that I thought would add strangth.But I was reading a post about the monsterjam thing and read that plastic is better than aluminum,I just wanted to know why and what every body thinks so I dont wast my money on aluminum parts...

Aluminum is heavier than plastic, so if you bling it out then it wont be competitive anymore.
Also, if you have tough aluminium bumpers and a-arms then if you crash they wont absorb the shock very well and you will end up damaging more parts than if it were made all from plastic. Replacements are also more expensive.

I just want to buids a super strong basher all parts would be aluminum,well that I could find

Well for arms and skid plates i would go with RPM. I have had RPM Products arms and skids on my truck for about 5 years and have not had any problems with them as of yet. I am not easy on my truck either. The best part about RPM is that they have a life time warranty on them if they break. The only thing i would have aluminum on my truck would have to be the bulk heads. Hope this helps out.

I'm building a 100% aluminum street truck right now. Parts are heavy and they are very, very expensive. If you are planning to bash or mud it, don't make it pretty. Mine is more of a show truck/headturner on track day...

Here it is in it's current state. I just got a huge box of parts in though.

like they said, aluminum is too stiff. it doesn't flex or absorb impact, it just bends or is stressed over time and breaks. rpm is the best choice, and the only aluminium recommended for the maxx is bulks.

So what is Rpm made of???

I looked at there site and all i could find are "truck nuts" for your R/c... I will be ordering sum of those for my truck for sure.

You don't want aluminum a-arms. You also don't want aluminum skid plates, the stock plastic absorbs impacts. You want the plastic to absorb. The revo is such a superior design, you won't need metal in those areas. Metal a-arms, skid plates and bumpers will eventually cause other more serious damage, they won't make a Revo any more durable.

Hmmm. I think i am leaning over to the RPM side,does any body have pics of there truck with them???

I would bash it around a bit and get used to running it before wasting your money on bling.

RPM is he way to go deffently


in the rear get the "tru-track" andfor the front just get the upper and lower arms.

i had a T-maxx awhile back and went the hobbystore and asked for allunium parts they said get Rpm it'll stay lighter and its just a durribal. i said nah i'll take gpm and i had bulk heads and all arms and skids. i actually noticed a diffrence in performance.

so now with my REVO i have all RPM arms and never broke any of them and its stil light

RPM all the way. I haven't broken an A-arm yet!! oh I have RMP bumpers too.

Also with aluminum sometimes you'll get a screw break off inside and have to get it drilled/dremeled out.

i have rpm true track and front arms. i have had rpm arms on all my trucks and a part never broke.
