another update..got the main gear installed..that is a custom made gear from 1/4'" aluminum that matches the size of the wire gear..it is one stout gear and will EASILY handle the weight of this plane....the descision was made to make the gear a permanent install so once sheeted there be no access to it...access will not be needed...last pic got the wiring to the tail servos and beacon routed and ready to start sheeting the bottom.
gb, the color scheme hasnt been decided yet

and here it is with the wheels installed...they are big tires but the size of the plane brings them back to reality...they are baloon tires and gives it the tundra look...very cool

here you can see the wing strut braces installed just fwd of the main gear. like the gear these are a permenent install...as in previous pics the tires really give this plane the character of a back country flier...off to finish the fuse sheeting...stay tuned..more to follow

Aircraft bolts for aircraft! Love the yard stick under the fuse. Gives the true perspective of size.

update...spent some time getting a lot of the fuse sheeting done..took a little time to get it smooth and straight with the compound curves but it should require very little finishing sanding ...just have a little more to go on the bottom and the nose..looked at some pics to figure out where to put some hard points in the front for mounting floats..think i have it figured out. just have to make the pieces for it..

got the nose sheeted. the open area around the nose gear will be covered by a removeable plate to gain access to the gear and servo. and to remove the nose gear when it is on floats.
figures glen that then wind will die down tomorrow when i have to go back to work..oh well maybe next week

if you can see the small hole on the fuse towards the bottom, that is for the fwd mount for floats..behind the skin is a 1/4" ply plate that pics up 2 bulkheads and 2 of the hardwood stringers..they are in there very solid

hey glenn
most all of the detail inside the cockpit should be able to see. the windows are large wrap around ones and with the size of this very easy to see inside....the reason the cockpit window framework is not there yet is because it is so much easier to build from the inside out. would be very difficult to add the inside details if all that framework was already installed. it will become apparent as more progress is made...

stay tuned
gene
