The plane's sitting next to a SUV gives us a good idea of how large the plane is.

got most of the control yoke setup and sized right..waiting for the yoke handles to show up...also going to wait till pilots show up so i know how tall to make the seats...right now going to make the nose cone and start on the wing. when the rest of the cockpit parts show up will continue with that

Yes it is bringing back memories!!!Only one problem, I don't see any flight instruments over on my side. Those two pilots are not on the payroll at MA, they are on furlough from the big AA.

ok here is a poll for everyone...have a few choices here...the floor is going to be the light grey you see in the pic...question is what does everyone think about using the camo sidewall panels as seen in the pic or go all grey for floor and sidewalls?...guess we will use the majority rules here unless simco mfg. overides..lol..interested in the opinions...second pic may be better...camo is a dark blue and grey

Camo might be interesting if the plane's paint scheme is military. If it is civilian, suggest one of the following:

Looks like the real thing. Might you add this small detail? Perhaps just a little strip of yellow tape would do the job.

No need to add it. The pics I had seen seemed to make it common place.

As I recall. Floorboards were all gray. Door Panels were gray vinyl with a pocket. Panel background was gray. That yellow placard on the "y" is concerning the Control lock installation.

Looks like this would be a great project. Just have a few questions to those who are building one.

Is the main wing 2 or three pieces?
What is the spread between the main wheels?
What is the wingspan of the Horizontal Stab?
What is the distance from the top of the fin to the ground?
What are the dimensions of the firewalls?

Just trying to figure the size of this plane, before I proceed with looking into a build in the future.
Hope you dont mind the questions.

Craig

This is a non/skid airliner. I think the sidewalls look fine. AAflyer, you can scan from side to side with your EYES. You don't need instruments! I bet you don't use the one's in your 1 to 1 scaler do you?

hi canuck1
a few answers on the dimensions for you.
yes it is a 3 piece wing. the center section is 57 1/2" wide and the 2 nacelles are attached to that
the main gear spread is 29"from the outboard side of each tire
the horiz stab is 42"across
the vert stab is 36" from ground level to top of stab
the firewalls are 6 9/16" tall and 4 3/4" wide. kind of narrow but the plane had turbo props.

let me know if you want any other info..so far a straight foward build.nothing difficult...just need the room as this thing grows
in a hurry

hey glenn
this project wont take to long..it is intended to be more of a fun scale build with a few touches of the real airplane. not a full scale build for a contest. but more of an everyday utility plane.
5 to 10 from SE tomorrow..sponge bob may finally get the maiden in on his ziroli p-40..have your camera ready
