i am building this airplane for a friend of mine.its the 1/6 scale from john labelle plans.130inch wingspan.got finished going through all the pieces and sorting them out of the short kit...from what i see so far everything looks good. its not going to be a full blown to scale contest airplane...it will have some details and it is more meant to be an everyday flyer..
i will start posting some pics soon..so everyone interested please feel free to chime in whenever and enjoy

ok here is the first few pics. decided to start with the horiz stab...the spars were made undersize and capped with balsa to ease in sanding to get the correct shape for the sheeting. it doesnt hurt any with strength.just makes sanding to shape much easier...if you look close at pics you will see what i am talking about...will show better when i get to that point

in the first pic you will see the rear spar for horiz stab....it was made in 2 parts...reason for this is much easier to cut the slots for the elev hinges, and in the 2nd pic. shows the spar laminate glued and supported to an aluminum angle
makes it more stable and keeps the warps out

elevs connected to horiz stab for hinge alignment...elevs will stay removeable until horiz stab is mounted to vertical...so far everything is fitting nicely

in these pics are the plate for the main gear. 6 of the eight slots had to be extended to match the other 2 for proper fit on bulkheads...also cut the bevel on the sides to match the contour of the fuse skin..much easier to do that before it is glued in. you can see in the pics the before and after

I'm interested in this plan but can't get on John's website (www.johnsplansandkits.com). Are the plans and kits still available?

ok heres a few more pics...getting everything aligned with the verticle stab and rudder........little slow going here....measure twice and cut once rule applies...had to make the rudder spar measuring off the back of the vert spar .....need to sand down the tail sectionto get ready for some sheeting so it is time to make a temp move to the garage....sawdust in the house is a nono with the wife.....balsa dust seems to get everywhere...have to agree with her
