RE: Quality Fiberglass C-47 in 1/12 Anybody building one?
Hi!
I haven't got a a complete airplane in fiberglass..... but I have made the engine nacelles (front and rear) and the oil-cooler made in epoxy/glass for my Marutaka DC-3 (powered with two OS FS .26 fourstrokes) Weight around 3kg (5-6 pounds).
I have also made my own carbon-fiber 3-bladed props (as exact to scale as possible) in 10x5"size. wing is covered in chrome coloured Oracover "dulled" down on a piece of glass window, before covered in panels. Engine cowls are covered in aluminium tape dulled down with 1200 wet paper and soft steel woll.
Regards!

I bought one of these from Quality Fiberglass. It has a 95" wingspan. The guy that built the fiberglass parts, sheeted the wings for me. I cannot figure out how to build it. The wings have a built in slot for a spar, but the middle section of the wing does not. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

You can cut a slot in the wings with a razer saw or hack saw blade but do it only on the underside of the wing (so nothing is seen from above) The spar is then made from 3mm plywood.and glued in with laminating epoxy and any bumps or crevises is filled witha mixture of laminating epoxy and microballoons.
