Span: 158". Weight: only 44 Lbs!. Engines: only 4x Laser 0.70, four stroke! prop 13x6 at 9000 RPM. (not overpowered like most B-17 models, absolutely not underpowered, real scale flying).

Default RE: Dutch Jan Hermkens large B-17, P-61, Short Sunderland

Jan you certainly have some beautiful aircraft in your collection. The B-17 and the P-61 would certainly feel at home if they were flying at the Bomber Field fly in held at Monaville Texas each September.

It is always a sight to see 4 to 6 of this size B-17 flying a loose formation in the afternoon sky.

Your P-61 is a model that I have had a fascination with since I saw the first one flying at a control line contest in 1955. It was only about 60" in span and flying on control lines but it did have retracts and an operating top turret. It was impressive for its time.

Hi Gremlin,

thank you for you kind words, but bomberfield, Monaville Texas USA, is to far away from the Netherlands! (and much to expensive!!)

Jan I certainly understand the distance and expense situation.

These aircraft are much too nice to be overlooked when this thread is displaced by newer ones. Why not post them in your gallery section under your profile? That way, anyone familiar with you or curious about your background can access these photos with a couple of mouse clicks.

Your aircraft would certainly stand out here in the Texas skies.

hi Gremlin,

I am pretty new with computers and forums! (since 6 weeks now, by the way, my son made the homepage: a last Christmas gift!)
I Prefered to build and fly scale models instead of talking or dreaming about them (the englisch modellers could have the right definition for these ones: "Armchair Pilots" !).
So I have to figure out how to get these photos into the gallery. I will try it! How many photos are allowed?

cheers.

Jan:

At the top of the page you'll see "My Account, My Models..." Click on "My Models" and then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "My Hangar." Follow the instructions. Simple.

HTH.

Jan:

People are struck dumb when they see your planes. My impression is that any complaints would have to be based on a close inspection and nit-picking criticism.

Beautiful planes.

Bill.

Hi Guys,

here some more pictures of my 158" B-17 and 122" P-61, both scratch build from own plan.
The B-17 is under maintenance now, after 12 years into action it was necessary and she deserved it!
The P-61 is still fine, but the Short Sunderland is after 15 years passable damaged, this after a dead stick outerlanding (technical problems). Probable I will not repair the model anymore, she is worn!

cheers,
Jan.
