Here's a beautiful plane, Walt Kahres' Northrop P-61 Black Widow night fighter. This is a VQ kit that Walt customized. It uses 17 servos, including 4 for flaps and 3 for the gear doors. Walt uses a JR 9303 radio. It's powered by 2 YS 1.10 4-strokes. Flies great.
Walt is from Augusta, Georgia. He also designed the twin tail modification to the Northeast Aerodynamics Twin-Air 45.

This is probably the only meet to have 2 models of the obscure Burnelli lifting body designs show up. The Vincent J. Burnelli designed planes with an airfoil shaped, lifting fuselage from the late 1920's to the later 1940's.
On the left is a CBY-3, circa 1947, belonging to Ed Moorman and "Flaps" Laffert. It's powered by 2 Magnum .52 4-strokes. It has Robart retracts and uses Sig plug in wing hardware. I fly this plane regularly and except for a narrow gear making for a wiggly take off, it is a good flying plane. The lifting fuselage gives the plane an extra amount of lift so it gets off easily and it floats on landing.
On the right is a UB-14 from the early 1940s belonging to Jim Brooks a local Henry County Club member. It uses 2 Thunder Tiger .46 engines.

Who is this man and why is he getting down on his knees??
It's CD (and forum moderator) Robby Newton about to beg Walt Kahres for some stick time on his twin tail Twin-Air 45. Walt caved in and let Robby fly. Robby them made a full power touch and go, trimming down the props and rolling the nose tire off the hub. No real damage, but he did manage to lose the rear of one of the OS .46AX mufflers. Walt says they are broken in enough and it's time for the Ultra Thrust tuned mufflers.

I came prepared to fly with 5 twins. Posed next to the end shelter (1 of 5, all with electricity and water and fans!) are the Evo .46 powered Dual Ace in front and the Burnelli CBY-3 in the rear. On the sides are 2 planes I also flew last yeat, the OS .46AX powered Twin Stick and the original OS .46 powered T-Raider, made from 2 World Models Sky Raider Mach II kits with a 15 inch excension in the center wing.
On the launch table in its PVC launcher is the Dusty Deuce, a widened, twin engine modified Diamond Dust. I have OS .25FX engines with Jett tuned mufflers in it. It is fairly fast.

Can we say: *PLOP* ...
Hey.. At least it finally kill'd the motor,, correct...
Of course,, Walt almost kill'd me..

Weather was not as bad as last year.. It was warm tho...
Seems like everyone who showed up had a great time...
Ed Moorman made a few passes with his Delta twin on
both days that impressed everyone...
I would have to say THE most impressive sight was
watching Mac Hodges and his (large) B-29... The
second most impressive was watching Walt with his
P-61.. That plane is stable as heck,, and faster than
Superman chasing a speeding bullit..
The Burnelli's were interesting to watch as was the
CUB .. Yes,, a CUB.. Twin fuse, overlapping prop, CUB..
Only damage for the whole week end was one APC prop
done by,, uhhm,, errr,, oh crap,, me<sorry, Walt>,, and
a strut on the CUB.. There were a few dead engines and
all were handled w/o any problems..
The biggest plane of the meet was Mac Hodges's B-29
and the smallest plane was Mac Hodges's B-29 ...
This is where you say,, "HUH???"
MAc had the big one,, and,, a small electric one.. Both,
droped the X-1 ..
As Ed noted, Lonnie brought out the only DONE Duelist
but did not fly it as he forgot the TX.. Ernest Flemming
showed ouf his large Texas Twin on glow.. Robby flew
his Cedar Hobbies Ugly Stick twin conversion.. Did
maiden Fri in heavy winds.. Flew on Sat but was not
running well in upper thriottle range.. So fly it at half
or fly it at full.. Flew nice, even on one motor..
Ed had the only Dual Ace there except for the one
Horizon Hobby provided as a prize... Sam borrowed
someones Royal 310 and flew it.. That thing was pretty
fast for an old plane..
I didn't get any pics but Ed took quite a few so is posting
them for us to see..
Many thanks to Mac Hodges for coming out and making
some impressive flights with both his B-29's and his Nosen
310...
A special thanks to Horizon Hobbies, Northeast Aerodynamics,
and Cedar Hobbies for their support of this event with
providing prizes to the particiapants...
And most of all,, thanks to all who came to particiapate...

Robby forgot to mention the engine-out landing after the engine quit because the rear of the muffler fell off because of all the vibration due to a bunch of the prop being chewed off.. Yeah Robby and I are a heck of an entertaining flying team. Good thing we live almost 1000 miles apart because something tells me we would go through some airplaines Walt: "An engine is still running, hit the kill switch on the right-hand side of the radio!" Robby: "You mean the right AUX switch on the left side that says GEAR on it?"
He was going to talk me through some inverted high speed tail-touches with his Twin Stick before I left, but then we couldn't get one of the engines to run right. There's always next time
I had a great time, thanks Robby for organizing and Ed for the great pics and support!
And yes, its time to put the Ultrathrust mufflers back on the Twin-Air anyway [8D]
Walt

Yeah !! Right !!!
Go ahead !!!!
Blame widdle ole *ME* for makin' you put pipes on that sled,, errr,,
fine flyin' mo-chine..
Mebbe I could find the proper switch's if you guys didn't have Junk Radios <heheh.>
Walt,, thanks for the stick time... Was a royal {{{BLAST}}}
And hopefully,, you have the confidence to try flying,, uuhhmm,,
well,, not as close as I did,, but closer to ground..
Hmm, yeah,, me thinks you might have a point there..
You see where I fly my cars,, errr,, planes..
Can see it now,, full throttle touch & go's,, with the '61.. YES !!!

More photos from Multis Over McDonough.
Paul DeWaard's Wagner Twin Cub. Yes, it is a scale model. There really was a twin fuselage Cub built in the late 1940s by a man named Wagner. He created the design to get twin engine reliability for flying over the Cascade mountains in Washington and Oregon, as I recall. Only the right fuselage was manned as the left door was blocked by the other fuselage. One engine had 65hp and the other 85hp and the props had different pitch, so let's not hear anything about synching engines.
Paul's plane has OS .70 4-strokes. The props overlap and make a really weird sound in the air. A rare design and a good flying plane.

Look who's smiling. Ernest Flemming poses with his giant Bobcat twin with 2 OS 1.08 engines. It flew this year and very well. I don't believe this kit is made any more, but it is a very stable flying and landing plane.
Here's another Twin Stick, right. Actually, it isn't a Cedar Hobbies Twin Stick kit, but a Cedar Hobbies Stick 60 modified into a twin by CD Robby Newton. Power is 2 Tiger Shark .56 engines.

I should have put these photos first. Wasn't thinking, but the Henry County RC Club has a great field.
Nice runway, but a little far out for me. I found out that the grass between the paved runway and the pilot stations was the old grass runway. Some fliers used this for take off and landing.
There are 4 pilot stations and safety fences on both ends.
I did mention before that there are 5 shelters, each with electricity and a fan. Water is also available. The center shelter has the pin board, a first aid kit and a Coke machine. First class.
Finally, I and all the other fliers would like to thank the Henry County RC club for allowing us to use this beautiful facility for the weekend and for all the support and help they gave us in running the meet. We hope they'll have us back in future years.
