Same here, I always read the new posts on this discussion, but I don't reply very often.
Waiting for your pics. I'd love to repaint mine too but I'm waiting for warmer days (we have 14 deg. F presently and it's getting worse).

If anyone needs new wood engine nacelles, there is a set for sale on ebay. I bought a kit short the wing and am building the airplane as a single engine design. I have no use for the nacelles.

good look on them wood Nacelles!!!!

Ok here is pics of the 310 painted then matte cleared enjoy!!!!

I left the white/blue monokote on the rudder and horizontal stabilizer so the over spray would not get on that and not on the wood, but that will get replaced with the matte black monokote that i have for the wings and tail sections. tell when what you all think??

Good luck seeing that near sunset. most planes turn black and are hard to tell which end is up and sometimes on cloudy days so i hope your eyesight is really good far off.[8D]

its not gonna be all black its going to have red or blue pin stripping haven't decided that yet. As for flying at sunset i don't normally do that and they are lights on the plane as well. and will be setting the landing light so it comes on when the gear is down. Thanks for the constructive criticism its always welcome.

That's going to be an interesting looking bird when you are done. Not sure if I missed it in an earlier post, but what are you planning for the Monokote tail feathers - painting over them or recovering?

Steve,

as for the tail, rudder, horizontal stabilizer and wings are getting matte black monokote. The plane has had a previous maiden before from a previous owner. so the plane has seen airtime. just can't wait to finish it up and getting back in the air.

Hi all.....yesterday I made a less than perfect landing with my 310 and the wings folded like a deck of cards. Both broke at the fuse/wing junction. Going to order a new wing from Tower (unless someone has a better suggestion....$199/free shipping). I have seen threads on this discussiuon re: strengthening the wing...anybody know where those threads are located or have any tested suggestions...thanks....Bo

P-Y...that looks pretty scary....doesn't the foam add a lot of weight and why doesn't it distort the wing...this stuff is pretty aggressive when it expands....thnx...Bo

Bo,

I have one of the first 310's off the line and i am also the the first to foam a wing and as long as you do'nt over do the foam you will be fine. leave the whole open where you foam the wing and you can let the extra push back thru the hole. just make several holes in the bottom of the wing and then patch the monocoate.

Allen.

Throughout this thread, there are different ways of reinforcing the wings.

My procedure will involve a little bit of work and fabrication, but when it's completed, it's pretty much bullet-proof.

When you get the time, go back to page 135 and read post number 3372.

hey bo I did the carbon fiber rods in the wings its a pain in the ass to get a strait drill with a 24" drill bit but it sure does help with wing reinforcement

Dang, One guy bust a wing and this thread comes alive. :-)

I have replaced the wing on my 310 with a tower offered wing as well.
When your wing arrives check the fit as they are joined.
Mine were very tight sliding on the joining tubes.
This was not a problem as I don't remove the wing for transport.
But, If I did it would be a major issue.
Also I noticed the new wing had a better choice of wood in it.
For this reason I did not mod the wing.
And so for no problems.
Good Luck.

...after my post mortem on the wing, this thing was a disaster waiting to happen...it just does not have adequate structure for the wing loading...while I did not grease it in on this landing...it should not have destroyed the wing....bad,bad,bad TF.......bo
