RE: Hostetler 310 Build
Now that the work season has wraped up, and the new family addition has settled in, its time to get back to the 310R.
I think I want to re-do the cabin top, make it removeable to access the gear a little easier. I'm thinking of vacuforming, any ideas on what plastics to use?

Got sidetracked with Christmas, but it was worth it!
been working on a fowler flap system for the past few weeks, using home made miniature linear actuators (4" stroke) and a aluminum flap track.
mock up will be ready soon, we'll see how they work.
Happy holidays

cool pics...
cool pics...
another 2 yrs just flew by.
My son is 3 1/2 years old now.
310R just sitting, begging to be completed.
I'm going on a new record for unfinished projects.
Only thing missing is some clothes hanging on it, like my unused treadmill/clotheshanger in my living room.
I cant believe I fell down at the finish line with this one.
Well, time to get motivated.
As soon as I reclaim my shop area from my wife. (she seems to think that she can put her sh@#% anywhere she wants)
I'm gonna resume modifying the cabin top to be removable. The idea of having to flip her on her back, at 45 lbs, to access the running gear, is not appealing.
Next, I want to rectify the air systems inherent 'slamming' of the gear, with a hydraulic conversion for gear and brakes - it uses all the existing air cylinders, just need to wire tie the connections (PITA)and install the pump and controller. The jet guys do this all the time with really no issues, so why not? supper dupper cool, and its only $100.
Time to go have a 'talk' with the wife.

Do you have any experience with the hydraulic gear on your jets?
takes up my whole shop area in the basement, and i'm kinda gettin tired of dodging it. Time to finish it and get her airborne, then in the hanger (garage).
