The following information was taken off the Royal Air Force Museum site:

What were the dimensions of the invasion stripes carried by RAF aircraft on D-Day?

Black and white stripes were painted prominently on many British and American aircraft just before D-Day (6 June 1944) to make them easier to recognise as "friendly". These stripes (three white and two black) were 18 inches (457 mm) wide and were painted chordwise on the upper and lower surfaces of both wings and around the fuselage. The outer edge of the mainplane bands was 6 inches (152 mm) inboard of the RAF roundel and the rear edge of the fuselage bands was 18 inches (457 mm) forward of the tailplane.

Here's the link for the site: http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/london/r...on_stripes.cfm

Since the wingspan of the full size Mosquito was 54'2" and your model is 73" span, that makes the scale a little bit bigger than 1/9th and smaller than 1/8th (actually is 1/8.9) which means there are 1.35" per foot.

It appears that this is for the single engined aircraft shown on the site. Multi-engined planes were 24" wide stripes according to the specific orders shown above so your stripes should be 1.35 x 2 = 2.7" or 2-3/4" which should be close enough for government work.

My guess is that DISTENDS should be read as DISTANCE!

dis·tend(d-stnd)
v. dis·tend·ed, dis·tend·ing, dis·tends
v.intr.
To swell out or expand from or as if from internal pressure.
v.tr.
1. To cause to expand by or as if by internal pressure; dilate.
2. To extend.

Maybe number 2 but it is a stretch...
