sounds pretty straight forward so far. Any problems with the instructions, I have heard that some of the KMP models don't have to good instructions with the planes. Anyway keep the info coming and pic's. I sure do want one I hope this turns out to be a keeper.

-The first problem is that the horizontal stabilizers do not sit flush against the fuselage.
-Both cowls are pretty badly done.
-I plan to install zenoah 20's

Infact the entire plane looks very detailed and flawless (except for the decals).....
was there any problems with the clear coat/ finishing ? Smooth or imperfections.....
I too had thought about picking this plane up and put in either 20-26cc gassers... Seems like a wonderfull plane to fly...

the plane's clear coat and overall finish is perfect except for decals and cowls,
the zenoah 20's smallest recomended prop is a 14x6 so a 13x8 3-blade which is a little more load is the obvious choice still it will be spinning very high rpms in the 9's probably but still within the engine's recommended rpms. master airscrew makes a 13x8 3-blade.
I currently have a cessna from h9 with a g26 and a three bladed prop and I think it actually picked up power with the three blade over a larger diameter 2-blade.

SOunds great.....
What is the diam. of the cowls?
Could you take a pict of the plane next to somthing (like a person holding it) so I could get a relation of it's size?
I know it sounds goofy, but Before I get a plane like this I like to know it's actuall visual size.....
Thanks

By the way if you could post a picture of the tail that would be great. Looking at the cowls it doesn't look so bad. I am really curious wich will be the AUW.
Keep posting, every info is usefull. I think we are a bunch of people hesitating to get this plane and it's great to have this thread. hopefully more people with build this DC-3 and bring some construction pics.
here is a pic of my simprop DC-3

I am not going to start building it till i get all the equip in
so far the robart style hinges have been ok but I ended up replacing them with actual robarts because they seemed somewhat weak. and i had installed them incorrectly

Thanks for the picture. It was nice to see your dad holding the wing because now it gives some idea of how big that thing really is when you see it next to a person.

I'm gonna follow this one with interest.
I've got the KMP FW190 and w/ the exception of some scale outline questions it's really a nice looking and very high-quality job. I did notice that you said that w/ the DC3 the manual's about useless. Same w/ the FW. I do wish they'd improve on that! The combination of the all-composite structure, new to many of us, and the inadequate manual poses some potential problems that shouldn't be around on a high quality and high-priced kits.

well once you build a few arf you really dont need a very specific manual, but this plane does has some key items that are specific to a dc3 and I wish those were addressed somewhere in the manual.

hi Guys:
If anyone wants to check out a sample of the manuals we provide you can see them on our website. Click the "instructions" button from the left hand side and have a peek.
Also: We should be posting the FLYING VIDEO in the next two days or so.

Hi Again:
IMPORTANT ***** CofG****** correction for the DC-3. It has been noted that moving the CofG forward by 2.5 - 3.0 cm will yield a much safer stable flying airplane.

Hello Andrew, I just checked your web site but I dont see anything for the C47. I am seriously interested in this model, I already have a Hurricane. Whats the chance of getting the manual posted for us to look at? Also while on the subject of manuals, your manuals need a little improving upon. The translations and explainations give some head scratching sessions. Wont stop me from buying though, just trying to make my mind up regarding composite or wood. I would like to see the manual.
Thanks

Hi scalenutz, no it's a picture of a Simprop DC-3. This Kit is out of production for 5-7 years now. The size is a bit smaller ; wingspan 200 cm and powered with 2 Electronic model cyclon 30 motors and a pack Nimh 10 cells 4200 and 2 castle 45 amp ESC. The fuse is fiberglass and wings are wood with foam inside. AUW 4kgs.
I am looking at KMP as it is bigger plane but I would definitly buy full composite kit because wooden wings with oracover or whatever covering will also wrinkle on hot weather, so for some more bucks I personaly would prefer composite wings especially also because you have panel lines wich had a bit more on appearance. I still do think that the tail rudder of KMP DC-3 does not look scale.
By the way I am curious to watch KMPs video.

I'm still wiping the drool off my chin.
I get to spend all day editting the footage. Sometimes I like my job!
Also, its my understanding that the decal issue has been addressed with the factory. The instructions will be uploaded when I get them from the factory in PDF format, and then have time to lay them out properly (The factory sends them in tabloid lay out, for their printing needs, which means they are all out of order for web use, and I have to reorder them all).
Also, for those of you who like the vietnam era, there is a video from Toledo showing the C-47 up close. It had been painted for WWII, not vietnam, but you'll see the quality and look right away. Here's the page with the Toledo videos.

And anyone who has a problem, like ZayZay's decals or anything else is encouraged to call us, and we'll find a solution.

RE: kmp d3 due november 30th i just ordered one
wow it really does fly and well too!!!
Can you shed some light on the whole setup used on the one in the video. Also were there flaps involved in any of the footage.
The low pass, the roll to inverted, and the landing were great, it really has me wanting to finish as soon as possible.
So was that landing with or without flaps?
Was all of that flying done with the recommended control trows?
Please please edit in a takeoff as I want to know what to expect!!
