Twin Engine throttle synchonization
I've completed a pretty nice P-82 and have it ready to fly except for maintaining good RPM synch through out the normal throttle range. Let me describe the setup: each fuse has its own receiver, throttle servo, fuel tank and battery. The 2 Thunder Tiger .36 engine carbs were bench set, as were the throttle arms.
The engines were run fat for awhile to break them in, then the needle valves were set for a good mixture. The engines might run synchronized at mid-range, but not at full throttle and they're worse at the low end.
I'd have thought two new quality engines, same servos, etc would not generate such out of synch problems. I bought one of the Futaba "Matchbook" gadgets, but can't see how that will control sychronization over full throttle range.
Anybody have any ideas to toss on the table?
Thanks!
Jerry

You'll never get them the exact same. get them as close as possible on the high end and midrange and make sure they have a reliable idle and fly it. Any pictures?

Evan, I confess you can see pix of it in my RCU ad. Rather than risk losing the plane because of this problem, I would rather sell it and work on my Vailly L-19.
Still, if I could get the synch to improve, I would keep it and fly it. Let me know if you'd like to see more pix. Thanks for your input.

The Twinsync will solve your rpm matching problem. I have several. You would have to plug it into one receiver, but it would allow independent setting of each engine to it's best operating point. Then with the Twinsync engaged it will maintain syncronization throughout the full range. No multiple points to set. If an engine quits, it will pull the running engine to idle, and then give control of the engine back to you.
It helps avoid swerving on takeoff due to mismatched rpm's. There's even an on board glow option.
I have had engine outs a couple of times and it reacted far quicker than I could have.
And, no I don't own stock in the company. Just a satisfied user. There is a thread here regarding this unit.

Don't know what kind of radio you are using but I use a JR 9303 for my twins, it has a program to match both sides through the complete throttle range.
