Deuces Wild
 

Morning all,

We had a good time at Perry this weekend and one of the bargains I brought home was a Deuces Wild. It needs a bit of work but for the price I couldn't leave it there since I've been wanting a twin for some time. Couple of questions on it. What electric motors should I put in it for enough power to do good sized loops, nice rolls and so on. What batteries and ESC's also. I have a pair of 60A units, would these do? Also, where should this plane balance? Since the landing gears need work I'm considering retracts. Sure would look better with the wheels up. I looked back more than 12 pages here and didn't find much. Looked at some YouTube videos and it seems to fly well. I may consider a nitro conversion since I have a couple of 46FX's sitting around bit am more inclined to stick to electric since that was the design. And I almost certainly will do away with that covering.That's probably why I never bought this plane earlier. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why don't you check the EFlite section on the Horizon website. They should have the build manual on the site.

Have owned a couple, great flying planes. Most common mistake is too low a prop speed. I've got cheap HK motors is mine now ( four seasons), 900KV on 4S 4000 pack spinning APC E10x10 props, spring air retracts, and the plane is a blast. Also had one with the recommended high power setup, and it was a dog. Left the power 32 motors and added 12x12 props cut down to 10x12, and it was also a blast. All depends on how you like to fly, but whatever you do, keep it light, and it will slow down to a fast walk on landing. Go to Horizons website for the manual, balance as it says

There's a small thread in the other forum on the Duces Wild. Lots of talk about the mods like reinforcing the firewalls, retracts, motors/ESC's/batteries, etc. It's currently about 126 pages/3149 posts long so I'm sure you'll find just about anything you would ever want to know about the DW.

I have two deuces wilds, one brand new in the box still for a rainy day. I have the E-flite power 32's and it has PLENTY of power. The two options recommended are the power 25's or the 32's in the manual. Robart makes a set of retracts that bolt right in and works great! My speed controllers are the 80A. Great plane and great find, enjoy!!
