Phoenix Tiger 3 Twin Conversion
Phoenix Models makes a quality Tiger copy in a few sizes, and I decided to make the 71 inch 15cc version into a twin. Running two OS 46AX engines, it is a fast plane to fly! Those ARFs out there make good platforms for all kinds of conversions. The plane actually flew on a single OS 46AX on the nose but it had anemic performance for aerobatics as one would expect, and it was floater on landing.

What size fuel tanks are you using and what is the flight time? I have a pair of 46 AX engines waiting to go into something.

Thailazer,
Awesome job! Years ago I put three 46LA's on an Uproar 60. I think the wingspan was around 61". It was a real bear to land, with all three engines at idle it still wanted to fly. Eventually I pulled the center engine and flew it as a twin, much easier to land. I crashed the twin after many enjoyable flights and had thought this tomfoolery was out of my system, but 15 seconds into your video I realized I wasn't. Damn, should I scratch build another Uproar 60? or bash an ARF like you did? I still have the three 46LA's, decisions, decisions, decisions... |

What is the wing cord on the Tiger 3, should have asked on the first post. This will be my third twin. Looking forward to this build.

The chord is 12.25 inches including the ailerons. Here are some photos of the nacelles. I mounted the tanks sideways so that their width allowed maple beams to be used for the motor mounts. The nacelles would have been too wide if I had used them in their normal orientation.

The Tiger Twin conversion has taken another evolutionary step. The plane was a pretty hot flyer so I decided to do a few things to calm it down. I extended the wings out to 98 inches to reduce the wing loading and added a boxier fuselage to slow it down. A stand off scale CASA 212 was born! I even put in an operating cargo ramp, and dedicated this plane to all the health care workers that put themselves in harm's way every day they go to work.

Got in a couple of flights on it today and it is a real easy flying cat! It was a bit windy so I didn't try to roll it but it sure does beautiful hammer heads. Hoping for a calm day soon to sort it out completely.
