Aw Crap, Missing Doublers
I recently purchased a Pica Duelist at a swap shop that was partially built. Everything but the nacelles were complete... Well I was looking through the box yesterday and I noticed there were some parts still in the box. Upon closer inspection I realized it was 2 sets of doublers for the inside ribs on the wing. My question is, how critical a flaw will this be? I don't plan on doing any aggressive flying with this plane, loops rolls, and stall turns...
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem short of ripping the sheeting off the wing???? What about fiberglassing the center section?? A 2-3" wide strip? OR, will it be ok as is? Thanks, Mike |
RE: Aw Crap, Missing Doublers
The only place I'm aware of doublers for the wings is where the gear mounts. If you have the fixed gear it should be OK as the mounts are different, but if it's set up for retracts the extra support is necessary.

Mike:
Tim has it almost right. Supplied with the Duellist are two different doubler sets, one for retracts and totally different ones for fixed gear. If you have the plans, one wing is drawn showing the retract installation, the other side shows fixed gear. You should be able to identify which ones you have "Left over," and ease your mind. If you don't have the plan, come back and I'll take some pictures for you. Bill. |
